I've often wondered what this book is about and if it's any good. What is it that you don't like about it?

Gitte (gittetofte) I'm reading Menneske uden hund (Danish for "man without dog"), a Sweedish crime novel by Håkan Nesser. I really like it so far.

message 1569: by Shelli (new)

Shelli I'm reading The House at Riverton....and listening to Revelations.

message 1570: by Carina (new)

Carina (simplycarinaxo) Revelations is good!
I'm reading 'The Great Gatsby' and 'The Kite Runner' again for school and I'm just about to begin 'The Fallen' as my free time read - can't wait!

message 1571: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) Carina - I read The Great Gatsby recently and I loved it!

I'm starting The House at Riverton by Kate Morton today.

message 1572: by Carina (new)

Carina (simplycarinaxo) Sarah - really? You loved The Great Gatsby? I didn't find it very interesting - although I wonder if I would have thought differently about it if I wasn't studying it at school...

message 1573: by Susan (new)

Susan I am reading Night Road by Kristin Hannah and am loving it! It grabbed me right from the get go! I have the tissues close by........

message 1574: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) Carina wrote: "Sarah - really? You loved The Great Gatsby? I didn't find it very interesting - although I wonder if I would have thought differently about it if I wasn't studying it at school..."

Yeah, it makes a world of difference if you have to read a book for school rather than reading it for pleasure. I had to read Great Expectations in high school and I hated it. I would probably enjoy it more if I read it now.

Yea, I read the first too! It was really good! Just finished the second today, totally not the ending I was expecting! I'm excited for the third one to come out!

message 1586: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) Glad to hear you enjoyed Crescendo Tara! I'll have to get my hands on that one soon.
I'm still working on The House at Riverton. It's going slow in my opinion. I may have to put it aside and read something else right now. Either way, I'm going to be behind on my March reads.

message 1587: by Shelli (new)

Shelli I'm reading Come and Find Me a book I just won on first reads.....it's keeping my interest...in fact, I'm a bit spooked!

it's an odd book - quite good though - the film sticks quite well too the book, but the books still better.

message 1594: by Henri (new)

Henri | 1 comments Just finished reading the Russian Concubine by Kate Furnivall. Good read but there's another book to follow. I prefered Under a blood red sky though, by the same author. Much more heart-wrenching, plunging you deep in Soviet Russia and Siberia.

Shane (Shaneybobs) | 80 comments Trueinsanity wrote: "Reading the Lovely Bones, its so much like the film, and so dreamy and totally un-put-down-able"

I read the Lovely Bones well before it was made into a film. Really great book. Then the film came out and it was totally panned. Everyone got really pseudy and highbrow about it so I didn't bother seeing it. I then hired it from Love Film and watched it with my wife and teenage daughter and it was great! I thought (like you) that it stuck fairly close to the book and the heaven scenes were just like they'd been described in the novel. Can't believe everything you hear/read can you!

message 1596: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) Unfortunately I'm falling behind on my challenge reads :-(
Right now I'm listening to Fallen and Great House on audio, and reading The Sherlockian (for my local book club) and The Paperbark Shoe (my Firstreads win). All of them are really good so far. Just wish I had more time to read for pleasure lately.
