Shelli Reading Unbroken and just started listening to The Constant Gardener.

message 1452: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I've also taken up Bleak House again. I started it about 3 years ago and couldn't get on with it at all, but am finding it easier to concentrate on it now. Also reading The Lemon Tree by Helen Forrester for a little light relief!

message 1453: by Dani (new)

Dani H (pentopaperreads) | 14 comments I'm reading Mary Reilly by Valerie Martin. It ties in really nicely to Stevenson's novella 'The Strange Case of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde'. I'm about half way through at the moment, and really enjoying it.

message 1454: by Susan (new)

Susan I'm reading Watermelon by Marian Keyes.

That's an awesome idea! I wish some of my FDs had such a reference point. Don't give up on him though! His books have really grown on me, and I'm always surprised at how much I enjoy his scandalous scenes that he creates after the initial confusion and grasping the characters and settings. They truly are from another world! But yeah, I can understand how daunting they all are.

message 1456: by Micko (new)

Micko Lemur (shiftdecimal) I just started reading "The Secret People" by John Wyndham, which was his first published novel and written before he took on the Wyndham moniker.

Are you kidding me?? If I had know Johnny Depp was doing the audio, I would have bought that instead of the book. I'll bet it's awesome!! Jealous!!

Kerry, I had to laugh when I read your message! When I read the blurb, I did not realize it was part of a series! Not knowing the previous stories did not hamper my enjoyment of this one though. I like this book pretty much though the beginning was a bit slow. I will look out for the first three of the series ... :)

I read Cutting for Stone last year, and you're right it's definitely not a fast read and takes some getting used to, but it's all worth it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

message 1490: by Bernard (new)

Bernard Collard | 7 comments I am reading "Tenacious" by Julian Stockwith. I am pretty determined to stay away from all that vampire stuff and you can be sure that a sea story always has at least one thing for the writer to examine as well as the development (or not) of the characters.

message 1491: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'm reading Sharpe's Triumph, the 2d in the series. Very good, as usual.

message 1492: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) I'm in the middle of several books right now. I'm listening to American Wife on audio. I'm reading an ARC of a book titled Pao which will be released in July 2011. I am reading Beautiful Child for one of my classes, and I'm also trying to squeeze in Fall for Anything which was a recent First Reads win. Too many books, not enough time...

message 1494: by Susan (new)

Susan I just started Return Engagement by Lynn Michaels and I'm only 30 pages in and I'm hooked already!!!

message 1495: by Diane (new)

Diane (dianedj) I am reading an uplifting and light book (after Room and Little Bee I deserve one!) called Pukka. Love it. A "dog lover must read".

message 1496: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Diane...did I hear your thoughts on Little Bee? I'm curious.....

message 1497: by Diane (new)
