I don't know whether I'll ever try his crime stuff. I was disappointed when he switched from the horror stuff :/..maybe one day.

Liz (zucchiniesinbikinies) I had to put down Let the Right One In - it's not that it was bad, I was just stuck in a reading rut and had to put it down and pick up something else to get out of it.

It worked like a charm! I just finished The Lake of Dead Languages and really enjoyed it!

Maggie | 44 comments I read The Lake of Dead Languages a couple of years ago - a really good book.

The Night Watch was different for Sarah Waters in that it was set in Victorian era like the previous 3 books - alot of people weren't too keen on it - took me a while to read but in the end I thought it an excellent book, quite moving.

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments Now onto CONFESSIONS OF A JANE AUSTEN ADDICT by Laurie Viera Rigler... Its quite amusing but as I have previously watched LOST IN AUSTEN,I don't think I'm getting the full benefit of its humor as it is to similar.

Donna (dfiggz) I just started The Alienist. I have to read it before our Book lcub meeting here at work on the 21st!

message 1189: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Stuart, Harris has written some other series that are fun & easy, too. Aurora Teagarden & Lily Bard are both real world mysteries. I liked the latter better, by a bit.

There's also her Harper Connelly mysteries, but with a slight paranormal bend. Harper was struck by lightening & can now feel dead people. She usually gets their last impressions, too. Very cool idea & plots. Unfortunately, she's constantly on the pity pot about how tough her childhood was. I constantly want to slap her.

Hi Shelli,
I am really looking forward to reading THE BRONZE HORSEMAN, but as part of my Birthday I was given A lot of Books I wad wanting in really special dinky Editions and WALDEN was one of them and I have arranged to go and see a performance of it,so as you see I felt it most imperative that I read it before going....
Especially given that it was given to me by Husbands Sister-I may never receive such a perfect gift from her again,so I also want to get it read so that I can let her know and that hopefully next year she would be kind enough to continue in this vein for my Birthday next year.......
