DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments Your Welcome :-)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments I don't even remember what my review says but u believe its spoiler free as well. I think I have it 4 stars.

message 653: by DJ (new)

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments Snap I gave mine 4 stars too as whilst I loved it I could see where some people would find it a bit strange although let's be honest TTTW was strange in its own way!

message 654: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments LMAO DJ! Yep was thinking that but I followed Time Travelers wife just fine once I got going and so many complained about it being hard to follow.
HFS was easier to read though less of a challenge that way. Its all about what I walked away feeling and if I was entertained and at what level I guess hard to rate some of these!

message 655: by DJ (new)

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments LMAO?I don't know what it stands for...sorry.
Yeah like you I followed TTTW fine but by the time I got round to it I knew some people found it strange/difficult.
Its all about personal taste.HFS was a quicker read though I felt as too me the subject matter was lighter if you follow...
I remember a lot of people were very nervous about picking up HFS after TTTW.

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Tehehe sorry DJ! It means(laugh my ass off) hope I'm not in trouble for writting a naughty word there! Sorry I'm a Facebooker and sometimes use short initials for phrases there and pick them up into everyday.

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments Thanks!Don't worry I do the same hence why I just asked as I know I will encounter it again.
Does it really count as a bad word if it is abbreviated?
Anyhow on another site(pre apology for language)someone used "Bloody Hell".Husband thinks in this day and age it probably doesn't even count as a swear word anymore! LOL!!

message 660: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments I don't count it as a swear word probably because its English and I hear it so much in English movies and such although I'm American so I could be way wrong on that.
It is said in the Harry Potter movies and books and kids read them so I guess I need to find out before my kids try to swing it past me....LOL!

message 661: by DJ (new)

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments I always thought that was the American and "arse"was the English?

message 662: by Donna (last edited Jan 21, 2010 12:25PM) (new)

message 669: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) I'm reading Cleopatra's Daughter and I'm really enjoying it so far.

message 670: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Loved Cleopatra's Daughter Sarah love it when a story teaches as well as tells a great story.
I'm reading Hotel on the corner of bitter and sweet enjoying it so far I figured I well just stick to the Japan and China book regions for a bit I have a lot on my TBR set around that area and culture so with it fresh in my mind I'm staying for a while.

message 671: by Monica (new)

Monica (imelda85) I loved Cleopatra's Daughter! I will definitely be reading more by Michelle Moran.

I second that about the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series! I just finished reading all four and impatiently waiting for Martin to hurry up and finish the 5th. Very good series!

So I was going to attempt to read The Three Musketeers, but I don't feel like it at the moment. So I'm going to start Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson Mistborn: The Final Empire (Mistborn, #1) , because one of my friends wants me to read it. Has anyone read it before?

message 674: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I read "Mistborn" & thought it was OK. An interesting magic system, but the writing is a bit too wordy for me. More readable than Robert Jordan's series, which Sanderson is finishing.

message 675: by Harriet (new)

Harriet | 81 comments I'm reading Anne Bronte's 'The Tenant of Wildfell Hall'. I've been meaning to pick it up for ages and have now had to for a uni module. It took me a fair few chapters to get into it, but I'm really enjoying it now!

message 676: by Nadia (new)

Nadia A (bagambo) Jo, is that by Sarah Waters? I heard that was a good one.

message 677: by DJ (new)

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments
Hi Harriet Snap I'm also reading it.Well to be honest rereading it and loving it even though it antagonises my feminist principles....Thank heavens I'm alive now and not the!

Jerrod (liquidazrael) Jo wrote: "I'm reading Night Watch"

I'm finally finishing this up, it's a decent read. It should have a subtitle letting you know it's stories of the Nightwatch, 3 different tales, not one large story. Let me know what you think.

message 679: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I have "Night Watch" in my to read pile, too. Let me know how you like it.

message 680: by Stephanie (last edited Jan 30, 2010 02:44AM) (new)

Stephanie (stephaniex88) | 76 comments I just started City of Glass by Cassandra Clare and I'm almost finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

message 681: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Loved The mortal instruments series Stephanie! I also have The Book Thief on my 2010 reading goals challenge hope its as good as I hear!

message 682: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephaniex88) | 76 comments I love the Mortal Instruments, too. They just get better and better. I hope this one's as good as the previous books!

I literally just finished The Book Thief and it was truly amazing! It's one of the best books I've read in a long time, if not the best. I'd give it ten stars if I could! :)

message 683: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments I just started Living dead in Dallas the second book in the Sookie Stackhouse series

message 684: by Micko (new)

Micko Lemur (shiftdecimal) I've just started A Sense of Wonder by John Wyndham, a rare story of his from an old sci-fi mag.

Christy (TheReaderBee) (thereaderbee) | 32 comments I'm currently reading Tithe by Holly Black, and am not really enjoying it, unfortunately. :/

message 686: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments Great Christy I have that book in my piles hope it gets better.

Christy (TheReaderBee) (thereaderbee) | 32 comments Karla, so far I've had to struggle to get through it... I don't know HOW in the world this is a YA book. I'm trying to at least finish it since I've invested so much time in it, but it's hard! lol

message 688: by Jerrod (new)

Jerrod (liquidazrael) Jo wrote: "Have you only read Nightwatch or did you mean you have finished up the series? "

Currently yes, my wife hijacked Day Watch so I'm moving on to other things. If anyone is interested in reading the book, it's worth a gamble, but don't try to compare it to the movie it's like the new I Am Legend, might be inspired by, but not based on.

message 689: by Roberta (new)

Roberta Azzopardi (robs08) | 7 comments I was going to buy Tithe once ... good thing I didn't. I'm currently reading Antony and Cleopatra by Colleen McCullough. It won't be one of my favourites cos there's too much tactic involved. I'm also reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood which is brilliant, kind of like 1984 if you read that.

message 690: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments I just read The Handmaids tale this month as well Roberta. Such a disturbing story. I have to recommend Cleopatra's daughter by Michelle Moran it was a great look into Egyptian and Roman times and a great story I enjoyed it very much.

message 691: by Roberta (new)

Roberta Azzopardi (robs08) | 7 comments Thanks Karla! I'll put it on my TBR shelf right away.

message 692: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments So should I just not even bother and just put Tithe on Paperbackswap I usually like the same type of YA as you gals Christy and Katie?
Ill read the first few chapters and see if its worth reading probably but I do have so many books to read that I've heard great things about.

Christy (TheReaderBee) (thereaderbee) | 32 comments Katie, I'm glad to hear it's not just me! This book is all over the place.

Karla, we do have a lot of YA books in common! You may like Tithe.. It's just not working for me. :) You will know within the first few chapters if you like it or not... :) Let me know what you think of it though, if you do read it. :)

message 694: by Sadie (new)

Sadie Just picked up The ABC murders by Agatha Christie and will be starting Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote

message 695: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) I am reading The Angel's Game and I will be finished with it today Loving it!!! I then will start The Elegance of the Hedgehog in which I have mixed feelings about but I will try my best!

Jason Clay (goodreadscomwillshakespeare) | 74 comments I am reading a cosmology book at the moment and it is very interesting, with some way out theories. Kind of like science fiction but possibly science faction too if you know what I mean ?

Jessica~CoinOperatedJoy | 319 comments Right now I am reading Strangers in Paradise 2, I will soon start the Count of Monte Cristo and Sookie number 4. Very exciting stuff. :)

Christy (TheReaderBee) (thereaderbee) | 32 comments I just started Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass today... I'm getting excited about the movie!

message 700: by Karla (new)

Karla (bookarita) | 289 comments I saw the add for Alice in wonderland in 3D and it looks very good Christy!! I love Tim Burton movies I always thought Alice in wonderland should be shown in a darker image that Disneys cartoon.
