We did some searching. We took some vote. Now here is a list of movies that were based on books. Some we didn't know was a book, or even both book and movie. Here are their categories.

Rules:
October's Challenge starts October 1st and ends Oct 31st.

* Books must be over 100 pages long.

* But most of all... The amount of books read is up to you..

* Don't want to make you feel pressured in doing all the categories, so pick and choose your amount (or all). Up to you. Have fun.

* Book must be used for 1 (one) individual category, no sharing in order to cross off more than 1 category.

* Books read before this month don't count (unless you've only read less than 25% of the book).

* Books finished on the First of the month do not count, unless you also started reading it on the First or you have read OVER 100 pages on the First of the month.

02. What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (Read a book with characters who are sister.)

The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz
Rating: ★★★★

Stieg Larrson, author of the Millennium trilogy, died before he realized the fame of his fictional character, Lizbeth Salander, the sexually abused adolescent and infamous computer hacker who learned to survive and obtain revenge on "Men Who Hate Women." With permission from the Larrson's family, David Lagercrantz, continues the Salander legend and her working relationship with investigative journalist, Mikael Blomkvist in this fourth novel of the Millennium series.

Frans Balder, famous computer scientist returns home to Sweden to take care of his autistic son, August. Although he is notified by American and Swedish intelligence that he might be in danger from a criminal organization known as the "Spider Society", he ignores the warning resulting in his murder. The murderer assuming that August who witnessed the murder has a severe mental disability and his uncommunitative chooses to spare his life only to learn later that August possesses is a savant in his ability to draw photographic-like sketches of whatever he sees. Now his life is in danger unless Blomkvist and Salander can save him and expose the criminal organization.

Although I don't believe that the current author did as well as Larsson, I thought his depiction of Blomkvist and Salander was written well enough to be a tribute to Larsson's memory. If one has not read the first three novels, don't fear picking up this book and begin reading. Lagercrantz provides enough background for the new reader to understand each character's motivation. I can understand why some avid fans of the series was distressed by frequent digressions for background information. However, as for me, I eagerly wait reading any further Lisbeth Salander novels.

John Warner (jwarner6comcastnet) BC, how do you embed the review within your list?

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) John wrote: "BC, how do you embed the review within your list?"

I do all of this in a word document before I copy/paste it into a comment or list of tasks completed

Let's see if I can do this without actually creating a link...

You know how to do bold? Okay ... instead of the "b" you type
a href=
you HAVE to have that space between a and href
Immediately after the = (no space) you insert the url address of the page you want to go to.
Immediately after the end of your url address (NO space) you type ">"
Then immediately (again, NO space) type the words you want your link to read: e.g. John's Review
And then you close the whole thing by typing that
/a
inside of brackets (remember to include a SPACE after the a)

Hope that made sense. It's really hard to give you directions without actually creating the link.

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) John wrote: "BC, how do you embed the review within your list?"

Most of the links I use in my task list are JUST links to the book, not to my review.

If you just want to include a link to the book (or author ... just above this comment box is a link add book/author You click on that, and get a pop-up menu.
Type in the name of the book, search for the right one and click ADD button. This will insert a link to the book in your text (wherever you left your cursor)
At the bottom of your Add Book pop-up box is a choice of adding a link or adding a cover image. It defaults to link but you can add a cover if the task element requires a particular cover image.
