I knew about Mars and Venus, and I knew that he loved her (because so did Lorenzo) and that he dedicated a joust to her in 1475 (Angelo Ambrogi/Poliziano worte a poem about it)... but I thought that Fioretta Giorini was his mistress and they had a son (Giulio) who became Pope Clement VII.

Clement VII was also Caterina de Medici's godfather. He arranged her wedding to Henri d'Orléans, François I's son.
Hmmm... right! And that's how they are related to Mary Stuart.I just realized I'm writing something and he's a character and I named his love interest Fioretta and I didn't want it to be that Fioretta... or wait! Maybe I didn't [looks in notebook quickly...]

Exactly, Mary Stuart was Caterina de Medici's daughter-in-law.
Right! Poor her they decapitated her. At least the opera that's written about it is good.What should I do about the name!??! Ugh I can't name her after his mistress!
Hello everyone :D I'm Andrea, 17 years old. People say I'm weird and crazy when I'm reading and I suddenly laugh out loud. They look at me like if I'm not normal!, though sometimes I'm not, but anyway I think they wouldn't say that if they read what I'm reading.

I was just searching things about Simonetta and Giuliano and I read that she was his mistress and that they were represented as Mars and Venus in the masterpiece Mars and Venus (of course). Did you know?!
