Hi Kevin!

Since an aspect of the S+L is the "news" section, you can jump right in to listen to that that part. I had made the mistake of only listening to a podcast once I read a book, and with that you miss out on fairly interesting news. They structure it such that the book discussion is at the very end so that you can listen to a podcast on its relisten date and then re-lease to the end when you finish the book. So even if you don't participate in the book club, you can enjoy the podcast.

We have a FAQ with common term questions. Those pretty much encompass most of the inside jokes.

It is fun to listen to the old episodes and hear Tom and Veronica get excited about "Game of Thrones" eventually coming to television. : )

The second part of the podcast is the book club. Every month we have a book pick, alternating between Fantasy and Science Fiction. Tom and Veronica pool some of the discussions from goodreads and then give their own spin with their thoughts on the book.

If you'd like, I'd try that out by listening to the episodes that cover a book you have already read. : ) That gives you an idea on how the discussions usually go.

Joanna Chaplin | 1175 comments So this might not work for you because it's time-consuming, but when I started listening, I looked at the list of previous picks and listened to the intro and the wrap-up episode for any book I'd read already. I eventually read (or at least made a good faith attempt, since I dropped a couple before finishing) the books in that list that I hadn't yet read, and then listened to the intro and wrap-up episodes for all of those. The wiki was of great help during this quest.

The book list in particular: http://swordandlaser.wikia.com/wiki/B...

If you just kind of want to familiarize yourself with the hosts and the overall format, you might consider starting with the video episodes. That's how I found out about the podcast in the first place.

I'm having a little trouble finding a playlist with all those episodes, but here's the first video:

Wow, very similar for me. Yes, I would also recommend the video episodes. Good fun.

Ah, thank you. That's what I was looking for.

Amy Hopkins (spellscribe) | 35 comments I don't think I've ever heard a bad ep (and I'm pretty sure I've covered them all). If you want to get a feel, I'd maybe skip the author interviews, my favourites are always the regular episodes simply because of the chemistry between Tom and Veronica.
