Donna (goodreadscomdonna_demeter) | 12 comments Saw this on B&N while searching books and thought it would make a good holiday read. Put it in my Save for Later file on there and of course they redid their website, and there's no way to find that list anymore. Wrote customer service. Twice. No reply. Have searched for the book on B&N, here, Powell's, Amazon, Google, assorted find this book and ballet book sites and nothing. Thought the cover had a woman's face on it, but that's another book that has dance in the title, but actually has nothing to do with dancing. TIA.

Liralen | 766 comments Donna, how long ago did you see this? (If it was recently, it might be in your computer's search history.) Do you still think the cover might have a woman's face on it?

Maybe none of these, but worth a try:
The Cranes Dance
The Sleeping Beauty (check editions -- there's another title/cover)
Astonish Me

Was it a romance?

Thanks, Liralen! It was probably close to 3 months ago, and it wasn't in my search history when I started looking for it. I do have and have read The Cranes Dance and Astonish Me. Have The Sleeping Beauty as well. I wish I could remember what I was originally searching for when I ran across it and I wish I'd written it down. Not sure about the face part. Possibly, but not definite about it. This is one of those things that becomes a "mission" because I know I saw it on B&N and I know it's there somewhere, but after massive searches I can't find the thing. It's not like I don't have an embarrassing amount of books here to read.

I'm not sure, but possible I suppose. I wish I could remember what I was looking for when I ran across it so I could re-do that particular search on B&N.

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Do you remember what time period the story takes place?
Was this book published this year, 5 years ago, longer?

Could it have possibly been a "young adult" novel or fall in the "New Adult" genre?

message 7: by Donna (new)

Donna (goodreadscomdonna_demeter) | 12 comments Thanks for your ideas, Tab. I think it's pretty new. Maybe the last 2-3 years tops, but I'm guessing. I think it might have been mass market paperback, but can't say 100% on that either. I haven't come across it in young adult, but I haven't really checked out New Adult. That's possible.

I'll give it a try. Thanks!

Donna (goodreadscomdonna_demeter) | 12 comments I think I might have found it, or if not it's something similar. It's called The Long Dance Home. Found it on B&N after I thought I'd searched the living daylights out of B&N. It does have Nutcracker in it, but she goes to her hometown to help with it, not to NYC. It does have a picture of a woman on the cover. I'd have sworn that it had a blurb that said she went to NYC, but I could be confusing it with some other book - I do look at a lot of books online :) Anyway, I ordered it and if it's not the book I saw before, it still sounds like a good holiday read. Thanks for all your help everyone!

Liralen | 766 comments The Long Dance Home for the link. I'd actually not be terribly surprised if 'NYC' had come from 'Cece'.

Donna, are you sure enough that we should mark this as solved?

message 14: by Donna (new)

Donna (goodreadscomdonna_demeter) | 12 comments I think so, Kate. I thought it was the main character went to NYC, but it appears that in this book, she goes from NYC back to her home town.
