This was at the top of the top ten frequently challenged books so figured I would go with it. I thought it might be a little depressing but boy was I wrong. I loved it because it was humorous and felt real. There were sad parts but it was much more about hope and possibilities. Great easy light read.

Heather Godwin (hpgodwin) | 84 comments I picked this one because of your review & I didn't want to read Animal Farm (which was my go to for a banned book). Wow, was the book emotional. And honest. Brutally honest. I really enjoyed it - I was laughing at one page and crying at the next page. I get why some schools might ban it (some of the racism and 14 year old boy growing up bits) but this is the kind of book I'd want 14 year old kid to read, a book about hope and having courage to take risks and to know how to count your joys when everything feels its worst.

Marta (gezemice) This looks like a great book to read, I should add it to my list!

Samantha | 122 comments Heather,
I read animal farm earlier this year and think you made the right choice :) Glad that you enjoyed it!

Marta - I hope you enjoy!

Laarni (laarnireads) | 51 comments I was going to read Howl but I'll be reading this instead because it's easier for me to get a copy of it :) Also, it seems more interesting. Haha. Thanks for making a post about it! :)
