Tracy Marks A new unabridged Les Miserables Goodreads group site recently opened with 3 committed members and 3 members planning to join this week, and is now starting in-depth chapter by chapter discussion (mostly the Donougher version but other versions are fine).

There will be dozens of discussion forums for members to post spoiler-free thoughts on different parts of the book. In addition to discussion threads for all the chapters of volume one, we also already have forums devoted to introductions, the musical and movie, Victor Hugo, background resources and just hanging out.

I've been actively involved on a Goodreads literature discussion group of European classics (LitnLife) which has had at least 10,000 posts in the past two years and which has read and discussed a number of great classics week by week. Our group has developed a strong sense of community during the 2 1/2 years we've been active, and some of us have even chosen to meet in person.

Although I don't expect my new Les Mis group to be as intensive or longlasting, I do tend to form and involve myself in groups of serious and committed book readers who like to discuss a book on both a literary and personal level. I have 20 years experience facilitating online in-depth book discussion groups, and am hoping that our "Les Miserables Unabridged" group will generate some great discussion too.
