One Year After
question
Coded messages from BBC

I'm at least a third of the way through the book. I've heard three coded messages in BBC broadcasts so far. Does anyone know how they tie in with the story yet? The first code was for Montreal: "The chair is against the door." Second was for Quebec and was the same message. The third code was for Budapest and Hungary: "The languid sobs of the violin wound my heart deeply." Can't find any discussion on them so far. Edit: After doing a little research, I learned about Radio London during WWII so maybe this ties in with Book 3?

I noticed the same thing - I think he may be setting us up for a book 3 (I hope).
The first and second codes are from the movie Red Dawn.
The third is part of another price used by the BBC during WWII that alerted the French Resistance that the Allied invasion was about to begin and to start destroying rail lines, communications, and other German targets.
The fourth "By The Waters Of Babylon" is a short story written by Stephen Vincent Benét in 1937.
