I just finished this novel. Not perfect but a great debut. I felt like a crack addict with this book- had to finish it. It was a bit confusing in the beginning and often felt like it was jumping from topic to topic. Had to re-read certain parts to see if I missed stuff. But after the Awakening if got easier.

My other issue is the volume of secondary characters, it was dizzy how many people and who they were and how they were related.

But I liked the characters, I liked that there were strong women and men working as equals. I liked that this was stressed. And of course who doesn't like Allie and Aidan.

And the meshing of myths and actual history made this an unique read. I liked that training was necessary and that there was no superpower per se. I'll wait to discuss more later.

Chapter 14: Interesting...

The beginning of this book is a bit confusing. I don't mind slowly getting to the point (if it's worth it) but I just feel some transitioning was missing. I'd be half way down a page and be like... ok, how'd we get here?

I'm liking the concept so far, though. I like Aidan & don't really understand Allie's decision to go with Vince. Did I miss something there?

I was fascinated by the concept of this supernatural entity... it did feel a little familiar, though.
