Hmmm. This looks like fun. It's still a little early in the morning for my brain to be fully functioning so I'll work on the puzzles after the caffeine kicks in. But sign me up please, Janice, and give me a task!

OMG! Why was I thinking there were only 4 when I plugged in the fruit machine?
ETA - This is what I've decided to do. I have re-rolled all the numbers. For those who I already rolled numbers for, you will get a choice. You can keep the number I assigned you last night, or go with the new number.
Let me know which task number you decide to do.
Task Assignments
Janice, I think I'll stick to my #2 task (the first task, which was #2). (well, maybe I can find a book which fits both tasks, who knows?) ;)
Janice wrote: "For those who I already rolled numbers for, you will get a choice. You can keep the number I assigned you last night, or go with the new number."Definitely going with my new number. I was really struggling with my first assignment of number 1!
Janice wrote: "Tasha, re-read msg 53. I changed my mind about how to handle it."Got it. I think I'll stick with my original number (3) as the cryptogram in number 1 looks overwhelming! I'm barely figuring out 3...I haven't done these in years and I'm sure I'll be buying some vowels. haha
I think you'll like task 3, Tasha. :) It's easiest if you try to solve all the tasks - gives you more patterns.
Ohoh, I got the one I was really hoping I wouldn't get :P Although perhaps #1 would have been even more difficult. I have some serious book searching to do, I don't own anything that fits and I think I don't even have any such books on my tbr. Unless maybe one but I'm not sure if it qualifies. I'll send you a message Janice.

Yes, that's what I've been hearing!
I'm looking forward to finding out what 3 is since you think I'll like it. :)
I am going to stick with my original task (3) as I really want to read the book I have picked out for it.
I am going to buy a vowel...I can't take it anymore. I suck at these puzzles but I just want one hint to get me moving. ;)Do I give the rec here?
Janice's hint in the spoiler in the first post helps Tasha. And it also helped me to first (view spoiler)
Woooop wooooop .. Solved .. That is very cool :D helps passing the time while being sick in bed !! Can I chose two of the tasks ?
I wanna do both #2 and #3
I'm going to do number 5 Janice.
I'm not giving up yet...I'm taking all your kind hints and trying to put them to use. This feels like such a math puzzle and I hate math!! ;)
I think I'm starting to get it. I think I was doing it wrong and it was confusing me. I was thinking that if I cracked a letter, i.e. A=E that it would go both ways but I'm finding that it doesn't mean that at all. A may = E but it doesn't mean E = A, right?

I'll assign you a task randomly. You are welcome to read more, but only the assigned task qualifies for a badge. I'll get back to you shortly.

ETA - You did it! LOL!
Well done Tasha! I found it quite a challenge too but once I cracked how to do it, I finished quite quickly and really enjoyed it!
Anna wrote: "Well done Tasha! I found it quite a challenge too but once I cracked how to do it, I finished quite quickly and really enjoyed it!"thanks!
Janice wrote: "Bella wrote: "I'm going to do task #3."What? You didn't want to read Twilight? LOL!"
It took me way longer than it should have to figure out why Janice was referencing Twilight! My blonde hair is showing this evening!
If not too late... I'm in. I was a bit confused and was going to pass, but I just figured out the #1 so I get how to do this! :) Now to finish the rest!
Anna M, Roz (so sorry I missed you), Jennifer, Joan, Vicki - your assignments are here.Joan, I used a simple substitution code. Each letter in the alphabet was assigned a new letter. All you have to do is decipher the code and solve the puzzle. It's best to try to solve them all. Hints have been given already to help solve. The theme is "all about you", so it's likely that the three letter word "you" is in the various tasks somewhere. A one letter word is either going to be "a" or "I". The most common letter in the alphabet is the letter "e". Look for common word patterns.
If you are stumped, you can buy a vowel as explained in msg 1.
I have to admit that I have never cared for cryptograms all that much, but I finally figured out my task. I think I already know what I will read, but I am not sure yet.
