I have a group read on the 1st but other than that I'm clear. Towards the beginning would be better since I get really busy for Halloween.
OK. I will do the audio as well. Since I listen at work when I can, it won't be a quick read for me. But I'll still add to the discussion as I go along. :) Ever since reading Burn for Me, I've been dying to dive into this series!
The beginning of this month works for me, too. I just finished my audio book, and I'm listening to one I've already read so I can join in whenever.
Ok. I started today, but I probably won't be able to listen much because this is a busy work day for me. I'll pick it back up Monday. Kate seems pretty badass so far!
I started it and then couldn't put it down and finished it. Really loved this book and can't wait to read more of the series.
Starting now... and I'm already not a fan of the narrator's voice. She sounds like she has something in her mouth. She sounds older than 25
I'm not a fan of the narrator, either. But I'm going to have to stick it out. I'm reading too many books right now to switch to print! LOL
Stopping for the night. I've only gotten up to the part where she meets Curran. There seems to be a lot of characters introduced early on. I hope I'll be able to keep up and remember everybody!
The good thing is that most of the character intros are in the first book, not a huge amount added after that
It took me a little while to figure out who all the different groups were and what they "stood for", between the paranormal police, the guild, the pack, the people and the knights. But I think I have it all straight now :)
Finished. I gave the story itself a strong 3 stars. This feels like the type of series that slowly gets better with each book. What I did not like was the narrator of the audiobook. Her voice did not fit what I thought Kate's voice would sound like. She also pronounced Curran and Corwin almost identically so that caused a little confusion for me at first. Plus her male voices were terrible. I will definitely be avoiding her in the future.
LOL I didn't get a chance to listen today. And I think you're right on - my friend made me promise to give the second book a go even if I didn't think this one was great, because it was a huge info dump!
It was as if the author was in a rush to introduce every single character of the series all in this one book! Since I am a speedy listener (I always set it to the fastest speed) it can get confusing if I have a dozen characters thrown at me all at one time.
This is probably an easier book to read since you can take a little more time to digest the different characters. I would have liked a little more explanation in the world building but still I liked it enough that I immediately bought the next book in the series.
Sorry gals. I'm flaking on this one. I just don't care for the narrator and don't have time for another print book right now. :(
