What did the two sisters represent.

It is my belief that the two sisters represented the two parts of Nigeria -- the one choosing a white boyfriend, representing sticking with the old regime, and the other choosing a revolutionary boyfriend, representing the new wave of anti-colonialism. Any thoughts?

That is a good thought. Although, I never really look into books like that when I read them. I can see your point. I think it is the other way around though. White boyfriend meaning new wave of anti-colonialism. The revolutionary one meaning they do not want change!
