i have some words for you. those words are yep. also we were having a discussion in my class one time and some moron said that it should be banned because they killed a child in the book. well i guess to his we should ban almost everything.
Actually, this book was banned last year
XD
XD

1. THEY LIVE IN A CORRUPT GOVERNMENT WHERE EVERYTHING AIN'T GOOD WHY ELSE DID HE RUN OFF????
the only thing i disliked was I wish their was more plot it seemed she tossed everything in with not a main plot. I liked the Idea a lot, I just did not like the way Lois Lowry ended it and the way she left a lot of little plot holes.
Also Sade the movie like I said with Scorch Trials is so different so I am not going to even compare it to the book.
And what Sade said about Jonas being 13, Jonas was 11 going on 12, then he turned 12 and was twelve throughout the book. unless Jonas and Gabriel was escaping for a whole year.

And his father shoved a needle through a child's head!!!
WHAT THE HECK IS..."
I hated it! I never recommend this. It is definitely not for pre-teens or younger. It is much too abstract and too dark.

I think you just don't understand it.
The entire book is like a huge metaphor. It's like a poem, and seriously? It was incredible!
That is the only part i liked too. The color

I actually tried reading that book and I ended up getting bored. I will try to read it again later because I know that I will like it... it's just the fact I wasn't looking forward to reading it.
I love really morbid stuff. It doesn't bother me.
At the moment I'm reading WWZ. It's more interesting than scary. Some stories.... *shudders slightly* kinda chilling.

Thats true but still the plot is still existent and I mean the movie is till better than the book.

No the entire point of the Giver is to help make a "perfect" society and a community that is controlled is normal. That's one reason Hunger Games was this huge deal. Same for Divergent. But hey. I love Hunger Games, but I didn't like this book because:
1. It was boring as stated above.
2. I read this in school. That was very disturbing and my emotions to the book ended up to be negative with all the.... thematic elements you could say. (I MEAN COME ON. THE KID DREAMS OF BATHING THAT GIRL. IS THAT NOT CREEPY????)
3. The way it was written.... sucked. I was only interested when he started to see color.
4. Let's not ignore the fact that this book is about mind control. Derh. It is a warning. Or, a prediction. Hey. Imma conspiracy theorist. Hands down, but this could actually happen in real life. Did you know some schools are saying WW2 never happened? Yeah. A way to just redo history. The sad thing is that, most people are too blind in this world to notice an issue when it is there. I would talk a lot more, but everyone would think I'm some insane person. But those are the 4 reasons I don't like this book.
Now my suspicions on.... life and conspiracies is for a different topic :D
(and yes, i do think the government is behind the alien spaceships XD)

You really should not call people idiots just because they disagree with you.

In many cultures, nudity (especially when caring for the very young or very old) does not matter so much - get over it. It's a butt, we all have one.
The entire book was a message on why we should remember the past instead of making a decision to ignore it and cease to teach people the truth, even if it is unpleasant. Without war, how can we have peace? Without knowledge, how can we have freedom? Etc, etc.

I agree with you 100%!
Ariel wrote: "The book was written well. It does have some elements which may be confusing to children, but probably by middle school you've seen way worse on TV (let's be honest). The dad injecting the smaller ..."
A lot of people could agree with the TV part. XD

But you have to read gathering blue and messanger to get it entirely. There are characters that carry over.

Yeah there are four books. All three frst books dont connect, but the last one connects to all three.
I didn't have the heart to read that far.
Meh. I got other books that are much more of my interests. Magnus Chase, Warriors, The Trials of Apollo, The a last Star.... ERGH SO MANY.....
