SOLVED. Young hispanic arsonist, east coast urban setting, gang activity [s]

I read this around 2004. It could be YA but probably for teens or older as there was sexual content- two male roommates (teens or earliest 20s) each having sex with their girlfriends in close quarters.

Pretty sure it was set in a spanish speaking part of NYC or NJ.

The protagonist is conflicted about participating in gang activity (drug dealers, maybe family?) that is rampant in his life and neighborhood. He sets fires, and watches admiring from a high vantage.. Someone is named Spider, and this may be part of the title
