Wesley According to Cone, "There will be no peace in America until whites begin to hate their whiteness, asking from the depths of their being: 'How can we become black?'" (Preface to the 1970 Edition, ix).

I've been thinking about this section all day. Being white, I think it is important to try and confront white privalege. However, I'm not sure what Cone suggests is correct because it perpetuates the fungibility of the black subject (See the writings of Frank B Wilderson III).

What do you all think? How should a white person confront their privalege?

Susan A starting place would be to stop thinking that you got the job, promotion, raise, lifestyle, etc. because of something you did without remembering that you started from a playing field that rewarded you for simply being white. Individual achievement is much easier when the playing field is rigged in your favor. Begin recognizing that when judging those who didn't have the same advantages.
