Roslyn (rjyeomans) | 12 comments Sorry I only read a bit of this book before I misplaced it, so I can't furnish a lot of information about it. I believe the book is a few years old. It seems to be a semi-historical novel about a young woman who finds an object (a feather??) in the pages of an old book. The story follows the history of the object from antiquity to the present time. I'd love to find the title or author so I can finish this interesting story. Happy Reading Everyone!

Is it YA or adult? Cover art? What country is it set in?

message 3: by Roslyn (new)

Roslyn (rjyeomans) | 12 comments Because it was a few years ago and I had the book for such a short time before it was lost, I don't recall if it was YA, adult, the cover art or country.
I know this isn't much to go on. Because there are similar book antiquarian novels, and I may be confusing what I say below with other novels; but:
the young woman may have been just starting out as a book historian, or the book may have been in her father's library or book store.

Is she young like 16, or more like 26?

Roslyn (rjyeomans) | 12 comments I think in or near her 20's.

Roslyn (rjyeomans) | 12 comments What I could add is that the found object passed through many hands over the centuries and told the stories of all the people who had the object.

Chrysanthemum10 | 14 comments This sounds like People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks

Yes!!!!! Thank you so very very much, Chrysanthemum. People of the Book it is. I'm going to get another copy tomorrow. Geraldine Brooks is a wonderful author.

Chrysanthemum10 | 14 comments Happy to have been able to help. We read this at our local book club a couple of years ago and it was one of those that stuck in my head. If you google the real book, you can see some of the illuminations. They are stunning.

Roslyn (rjyeomans) | 12 comments Ordered it from Amazon yesterday so I can finish it. Thank you again for remembering. BTW: Can't figure out how to send this feed to "Solved" discussions. Would appreciate it if someone would do so.
