I read Plain Truth a while ago and I wanted to know what other people thought of it. I thought it was a pretty good book and one of Jodi Picoult's better ones. What did you guys think?? :)

I enjoyed the book, it was one of her better ones. That said, the surprise twist at the end, was something I figured out beforehand.
You're right the ending didn't surprise me at all but still a brilliant book. Great subject to read about.
This is one of my favorite books by Jodi Picoult. I love the complexity of the plot and all the different characters' intertwining storylines... although I guess that is a Jodi Picoult trademark, not just specific to this book.
I'm reading this book now and it is definitely keeping me interested. I can't wait to see how it goes.

I just finished this one. I really liked it. I didn't see the twist at the end coming. I was thinking it was someone different. Can't believe I put this one off so long.
Plain Truth was probably one of my favorite books by her. I loved that Picoult took a step out of her comfort zone and started writing about something so different, such as an amish lifestyle, I found it very interesting. It was also one of those books I didn't want to end. Unfortunately for me though, I had seen the Lifetime movie before reading the book and I didn't realize I had seen the movie until I read the plot. So I had a general idea what it was about, but overall I thought it was an amazing book.
I just finished Plain Truth and really enjoyed it! Picoult is a master at character development and I really enjoyed getting to know Katie and Ellie, in particular. They were real and flawed and their relationship blossomed in a believable way as Ellie slowly gained Katie’s trust. Having read several of Picoult’s novels previously, I knew there would be a major shocker at the end so I spent most of the novel tearing my hair out, thinking up various scenarios. You’d laugh if I told you some of the possibilities I cooked up in my head!
Hi guys I'm new here and looking forward to discuss Picoul's books. About Plain Truth, I really enjoyed the book that the fact wikipedia destroyed the twist in the end but still the book was so amazing on how she struggled to write it as part of religious culture difference between the characters and how they manage to be part of the outside world.I think this was my 3rd Picoult book and so far I'm still in progress, trying to read 10 of her novels this year so far I fired 8 books out of 18. Wish everyone will share their thoughts about this book and I wish everyone will participate. As a start up question, Why did the mother gave the scissors to Ellie? This may be simple but our brainstorming ability will work in the later part.
Kwesi- I think that the mother gave the scissors to Ellie, because as an Amish woman, she felt like someone did have to know, she had to confess to someone. That's my opinion. Why on earth she would tell a lawyer about it, when they have an obligation to report things like that, is beyond me...but I think it adds on to Picoults never ending mysterious characters. Some things we'll never understand, and I think it was written thay way on purpose...to leave the endings to the imagination.
I really liked Plain Truth! The fact that Jodi ACTUALLY spent significant time on an Amish farm and did her research was interesting to me and also a wonderful thing. I love when writers know what they are talking about. I know a lot of people hated the ending, but I think that was my favorite part... it's like I SHOULD have suspected that but never even thought about that it was going to turn out like that. Thanks, Jodi, for another wonderful book!
