How to get rid of yellow spots/stains in your books?

Hello to fellow bookworms out there!

I have a question. I have some old books that have these annoying yellow spots/stains. Do you know how to get rid of these? or do you know someone/somewhere that can help me fix it?

I'm afraid that my other books (especially, new ones) will get the same condition because they are laid on the same shelf. Can I ask on how to prevent the appearance of those spots? Sadly, we don't have airconditioned rooms. =(

I read some articles, too, telling me that a sandpaper can remove it somehow. Is this even legit?
