I've just sent for my print proof from CreateSpace so it all depends how things go with that. If I'm happy with it I can complete the process and hopefully set my launch date - fingers crossed. :)

99p Kindle Countdown Deal starting 27/8/14
It is 1821 and smuggling is rife on the English coast. Lucy Yorton, dragged away from her privileged early life, finds it impossible to know who to trust, while those around her suspect she is a spy and treat her accordingly. Her problems increase when two men enter her life.
Lieutenant Karl Thorsen, sworn to avenge the death of his father, is a King's man. He is determined to stop the violent smugglers, hang them, and hang and gibbet one in particular.
Daniel Tynton has smuggling in his blood. Undaunted by Thorsen's threats, he is respected and feared. When he witnesses a murder, he makes a bold decision, and many lives will never be the same.
If you buy it, I hope you will enjoy it.

Launch date set?"Yes, it's just gone on today and the link is http://viewbook.at/Slur although that only takes you to the Kindle version as they haven't married the two versions together yet. I've sent a query to Amazon asking them to link the Kindle and print versions so that they both show under my name.
Now it's time to get busy doing all the prep for my launch party on 19th Sept. I just wish I had some energy as I'm battling a throat infection at the moment - groan.
I hope all is going well for you with One Dark Night.
One Dark Night"Great story, complex, interesting, with engaging characters, well worth reading."
My thanks go to reviewers who say things so much better than I can!
Still 99p for a few days more.

Diane - this looks so good! Great cover and you are off to a good start in the charts. Enjoy!
Do keep us all posted on how it goes.
So sorry to hear you are not feeling 100%.
One Dark Night's KCD sales in the UK have been abysmal. My only comfort is that lots of UK writers are saying they have had hardly any sales all week. Another person with a KCD has sold just one copy. I've managed two in the UK. However the US has taken off! Bless them! I've never been so high in the US charts.

Thanks Anna, yes the work really starts now with all the promotion, doesn't it? I'll send you an invitation to the launch party as we've got some good competitions lined up with great prizes. I need to set up my author page in this group too. I'll let you know once I've set it up.
I'm sorry to hear that your UK sales haven't been so good but well done with your US sales. Tapping into the US market will be a whole new experience for me as my first two books were UK based. You'll have to let me in on your secret. :)
There's about 28 hours left for anyone who'd like to buy a book for 99p about the battles between smugglers and the revenue men and a girl torn between the two.
And... Diane is soon to launch her new book, so good luck to you, Diane. I look forward to the party!

..."Thanks Anna, I'll send you an invitation.
Pat (Scorpio), thank you lots and lots for your review. I like it so much, I have to copy it here!"Well written and an enjoyable read. I really cared what happened to the folk and how their tale played out."
A review like that is encouraging and makes an author want to keep on going.
If you like time travel, the Regency era, highwaymen, shipwrecks, and a splash of humour, you might like to know that Hide in Time is available now on Amazon and until Sunday 12th October at $0.99 (then it’s $1.99) and until Tuesday 14th October at £0.99.
Excerpt (when Laura remembers the first time she met Matt): "He’d looked at her – wet and sandy. She’d remember that look all her life, no matter how long she lived. He had eyes that listened; deep brown eyes which had encouraged her to ask, ‘Sir, would you kindly assist me. I was aboard the SS Kismet when it collided with a sandbank.” She’d hesitated before adding the stark consequence, “and sank.” He had taken a step forward and lifted her trunk. The tar had ruined his T-shirt. He’d asked where she was trying to go and she’d replied, “America.” He hadn’t laughed, though the little group of people gathered about were smirking. One of them, unasked, gave Matt directions to the hospital. What would she have done without Matt? Another tear trickled down her face.
Only 99c or 99p.
I hope the sale goes well for you Anna. I've already bought my copy but I don't know when I'll get round to reading it - my Kindle is very full. :)
Thank you Kath, such a comment from a big-hitter like you is very much appreciated. Also, thank you Diane. I wish for you time, lots of lovely time, to read and write.
It's gone very much better than I thought. These are the results for the first day.Amazon Bestsellers Rank: #3,476 Paid in Kindle Store (See Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store)
#3 in Kindle Store > Books > Romance > Time Travel
#4 in Books > Fiction > Romance > Time Travel
This is the UK ranking. I hurriedly threw this promotion together a week or so before I went on holiday during a time when everything that could go wrong did go wrong, so there was no time to put together a good promotion. I usually keep good notes but failed to do so this time. The only thing that's different from the dismal previous Hide in Time KCD was that I have made a note saying I'm using free sites I've not used before and I've changed the category on one site I have used before.
In total, I sold 31 HiTs yesterday, which might be enough to give it traction for the next few days.
And the bad news is that I sold only two yesterday and, on top of that, no one has bought One Dark Night since the KCD started, not even in the US where it was doing quite well.Ho hum.
Anybody want to read a time travel romance with a spot of mystery and humour thrown in?
A review from a very nice person said,
"The story unfolded in an unexpected manner and was told in a way that had you rooting for the heroine. A thoroughly enjoyable read. I shall be looking for more books by the same author."
If you are this person - thank you very, very much!
The sun is breaking through the clouds here. Pouring overnight.

Hi Anna, I've just joined this group and I'm still trying to navigate myself around. I thought I'd start here, although the talk of elephants has me confused.com
I am interested in the conversation about being rejected by publishers. But what do they know! I tried for twenty years until I tried Amazon.
Hey, folks I've read Anna's Hide in Time and it's excellent and One Dark Night is on my reading list.
Anna, I read somewhere that you felt sad that you've sold only a few books recently. Please don't despair. It happens and I always feel that every book is a bonus to us self-published authors. I put it down to character building. Goodread and Amazon is a sort of tough apprenticeship where we discover our true potential (and strength). I'm immensely proud of being a Goodreads member and it was a turning point in my life when I joined. The support and encouragement we receive from other members is beyond measure.
Gingerlily - Elephant Philosopher wrote: "Um.. sorry about the elephants. Its all my fault."I was wondering if elephants featured in Anna's Hide in Time. I've been racking my brains cos I don't remember any pachyderms.
Well if you want to hide elephants, time is as good a place as any... I had 1000 elephants that I needed to put somewhere, and this seemed to be a nice friendly accepting place. They all seem to have wandered off now. I haven't seen any of them for weeks.

Ooh whatever you're drinking, I want some.

Er, 31 in one day! Oh, wow, that's fantastic. If I do that in a month I'm happy. What are you doing right that I'm doing wrong?
Gingerlily - Elephant Philosopher wrote: "A mixture of rum, vodka and Jagermeister.Oh and they were pink elephants!"
I'll have a gallon, please.
One hour to go and I'm off to the airport. Sicily here I come. Will speak to you all in one week. That's if you'd like to come with me. Come on, Anna, let's Hide in Time and get away from the traumas of writing.

Actually, Julia, I might take you up on your kind offer and catch the next plane out.
I've had very few sales of Hide in Time in the last couple of months so it's a relief to wake the old girl up. One Dark Night has gone to sleep now. They've obviously come to some arrangement behind my back.
Well done on breaking into the top 5000, Anna. Getting into the top 10,000 is good going. #3 in your genre bracket is great.
Thanks guys!I see I have a lot of hard work ahead of me to catch up with your output - how you keep tabs on your books is a feat in itself.
There's still three more days to go on this Kindle Deal, so I have to shout from the rooftops:
until Tuesday the price is 99p
Here's one of my favourite lines from an American reviewer:
"Oh, this is such a pleasure to read, right up to the thrilling end, through tense moments and laughter..."

Four gorgeous elephants received and made welcome, Gingerlily. The depressed chap is yarning over the garden fence to the Alsatian who's not been well. They should be there for an hour or two.
The insulted lass is writing down 101 witticisms to clobber the customs officer with next time she travels.
The unemployed lad is washing our car and then says he'll water our garden. I've tried explaining its raining and the garden doesn't really need it but... Maybe I'll suggest he sets up a car wash operation by the garden centre. That should keep him busy.
The one who doesn't feel anyone recognizes a good thing when they feel it, is practising his trumpeting 'to give thickos a clue'.
When do you want them back?
Oh keep them as long as you want. If they start becoming a nuisance let me know and I'll come and collect them.
"When a book allows me to become one of the characters.... aahhhh, perfection!" (Louisa - Goodreads)Hide in Time has now returned to its usual price of $2.99 or £1.99
My thanks to all those who supported the KCD.
"I found this a perfect book to relax over the weekend with." - Amazon UK reviewer
I hope you'll find that too!
Re elephants - they're all packed up and ready to follow you anywhere, Gingerlily. The trumpeter hasn't stopped, so you might want to bring your earplugs.
Gingerlily - Elephant Philosopher wrote: "Ok, Elephants........ FORWARD MARCH!!!Thanks Anna, they look very refreshed and revived."
The car wash ele has made a fortune and I saw him tuck it away under his ear. You might want to give him some investment advice. Or perhaps he'd like to buy you a few Amazon treats?
Stand him up against a wall, get a ladder, and frisk him, Gingerlily! If he gets behind again, give him a bucket and sponge and send him out to clean cars.Oh bless him, I feel terrible for saying that. He's quite a little charmer really.
Yes, I know he's a charmer. But that means he gets away with a lot too much! And of course the lady elephants always seem to fall for it...
Gingerlily - Elephant Philosopher wrote: "Yes, I know he's a charmer. But that means he gets away with a lot too much! And of course the lady elephants always seem to fall for it..."Shh, everyone. You keep them talking and I'll go and get the men in the white coats.
Here's an excerpt from One Dark Night, a tale of vengeance, smuggling, mystery and romance."A metallic scraping noise jarred Lucy’s thoughts back to the bleak scene before her. What was that mussel man doing? Lying flat, she edged herself to where she could peek over to the rocks below. He had dug far too deep; mussels didn’t hide way down in the sand. He was also in the one place which was hidden from the sight of the revenue officers at Watch House. He wasn’t alone either. A rough-looking seaman was filling in the hole, now as deep as a grave. She watched as, without a word, they covered the sand with huge chalk rocks and, with a flourish, flung seaweed on the top. They had buried something. Or, God forbid, someone?"
I hope you'll root for Lucy, who's having a tough time of it, fall in love with someone (probably not Bodger, bless him) and cheer loudly if it all comes right in the end. Or cry if it doesn't! I'm not telling.
Jim wrote: "Three in any genre bracket is great"A belated thanks, Jim!
I've just looked at your books - and your reviews are nearly all 4. something. On Goodreads - well done!
I have no family members' reviews on Goodreads or Amazon. I keep dropping the odd hint or ten.We are a close family and we love each other dearly but my writing is seen as a little hobby mummy has... grr... My husband did write one once but Amazon did not accept it (same IP address, I suppose!). It doesn't occur to friends that I'd like one... Any 5* reviews I get are treasured and 4* ones are kind of lovely too and a huge relief.
When I had my first 5* reviews on Goodreads for Hide in Time I went round asking everyone to be my friend - it felt like being the new girl in the school playground.
Sigh.
You have so many books with 4+ stars and, as far as I'm concerned, that's almost like having a George Medal!
My wife tried to review my book too, Anna, and it didn't appear. She bought the book, read it, and wanted to do a proper review as she would for any other book, but like you say: same IP address. To be honest she was more disappointed than I was.
Oh no, you didn't appear mocking to me, Jim, and I'm sure we all jump for joy when a surprise good review arrives.I think it's good, David, that Amazon are on the watch as best as they can but my hubby was a bit put out. And I've only got the one hubby so it wouldn't have made much difference!
