anybody else think that the ending to 'their eyes were watching god' was totally diasappointing?

I was satisfied with the ending. I felt like Janey made her EPIC journey and it lead her back home. physically and mentally.

Yes, I felt like Janie's story didn't truly end.

I think that is kind of the point, You are supposed to use your imagination as to where her journey takes her from this point.

I loved the ending. I'm not trying to be that person but this book rocked my socks and i was very happy with the ending.

Anyone else horrified that this is supposed to be a feminist novel? Maybe it is for the time period?

I was really satisfied with the ending, personally. To me, it seemed like Janie ended up realizing her strength that she had gained from the tragedy she had gone through. I think it would have been a disappointing ending if she had not had any problems because that would be very cookie-cutter, wouldn't it?

I would have been disappointed if Hurston had taken an approach at the end which resembled The Awakening, which seems to be a comparable but inferior work with similar themes.

I thought it was disappointing !
