"No I'm not surprised. I'm asking why. I mean, nothing's happening here," Salem said, sipping tea.

((At the place they were last night))Josiah chuckled
"Nothing has to be happening. Though it may seem that way when you hang out with Emmy so much."
"Good to know..." she murmured. "It actually looks kinda cool now that I know it isn't just for issues."
"What? You want to pick where we go tonight?" Declan asked her."You're part Shadow aren't you? I can sense it." Josiah informed her "If the eye thing isn't already happening, getting that Rune power through you will definately tip you over the edge." Josiah told her and nodded "Yeah you'll be over the edge." he said softer.
Salem sighed and set her empty cup down, wishing it was full. "Over the edge, huh...." she jumped off the counter and began making tea again. "Do you want one?"
"What does 'over the edge' mean to you, Josiah?" she asked quietly, back to him. Her hands shook as she poured the boiling water into her mug and tossed a tea bag in.
"I know you've been hanging out with Matt," the girl said. "And you need to stop. He's way out of your league. Trash like you doesn't deserve to even be friends with him."
Abby stopped giggling in an instant. She froze up and couldn't reply.

Josiah's eyes smoldered again"It's different for everyone." He said looking at the sunrise. Exhaling quietly he said
"Salem...." he started
The girl smiled, a sickeningly sweet grin and left the bathroom.
Abby took a deep breath and looked at herself in the mirror. That girl was right. She didn't know why Matt was hanging out with her. Pity, or because he to, whatever the reason, she wasn't going to let him to it anymore. Because sooner or later he would just let her down. She pushed the bathroom door open forcefully and walked quickly down the hall.

"I am here on my own terms the only people that know that are you and me. Damien isn't, we have a job here that can't be left undone. I am telling you this so you understand." Josiah said looking at her, his eyes flickering between their natural black and silver.
"Nothing," Abby said, short and clipped. She saw the exit to the school a few yards away and she kept walking, lengthening her strides.
Salem turned to face him. "What is the job that can't be left undone, Josiah?" The way his eyes were changing unnerved her.

"This school. My old school. Kids in general," Abby said, and pushed past Matt and went out the door.

They need you, desperately. There is nothing that they wont do to get you two. Hate me if you need to, just listen to me when I say you and Emmy need to leave before the heavy hitters get here." Josiah said looking at her severely.
Declan smiled
"We can do the inside tonight."
"Nothing happened. I'm just over reacting like I always do," Abby said, but kept walking in the direction of Ben's apartment.
"Wait. What? Heavy hitters? Kidnap? Josiah! It's three in the morning, can you explain please?" Salem asked, exasperated. She mixed milk and sugar into her tea.
"Because I don't like you," Abby said angrily. "Is that too hard to understand? That there's someone out there that doesn't like you?" The lies were hurting Abby as much as the appeared to be hurting him. But she knew better.

Josiah nodded "I would advise it. I can only hold Damien here for so long." JOsiah did feel horrible admitting this but he had to warn her. "I won't put you two back in a cage. It won't happen, not while I have power."
Declan smiled
"We can do the inside tonight."
Salem's eyes widened. "Isn't that dangerous for you?" What she really wanted to say was: Will we ever see you again? After realizing what she felt, she didn't want to lose it this soon. Her rebellious thought was: I've never been in a cage. Is that a metaphor?
Abby bit her lip to keep the tears from coming. So much for making friends. She shot him a glare and kept walking.
Abby kept walking, relieved that Matt wasn't following her. She felt a twinge of guilt, but she shook it off. He won't care, she told herself. He has plenty of other friends. He doesn't want me. She had gone at least 4 or 5 blocks when she realized she was lost.
"Of course it is Salem." Josiah was tempted to laugh "Like Emmy said last night, the people you care about won't survive with you two gone again. The Shadows will be sure of that."Declan took her inside.
"Where am I?" Abby whispered to herself, and looked around at the unfamiliar buildings. She couldn't remember Ben's address. "Ben?" she whispered. "Help."
