Smiling back at him, Riviera turned off the sidewalk and onto the path that led through the park.

Tears started spilling out of Abby's eyes, unbidden.

Once inside the plant infested park she threaded her way through the taller grasses by the more overgrown section and found herself near a line of bushes. Peeking back, she slipped through, disappearing from sight. She moved quietly, hiding from Zack for fun. Riviera found a circular garden that --even overgrown as it was-- looked breathtakingly mysterious and beautiful. She sat down on a cracked stone bench in the centre and drank her tea.

Zack wondered where she was.


Matt looked at her, concerned.

"I can't do this," she whispered, and ran out of the classroom.

[Julian]

Matt followed her.

Riviera didn't plan on telling him where she was. She wanted to know if he would even try to look or if he would just leave.

She tried frantically to find a bathroom, but all the doors in the hallway led to other classrooms.

Matt dashed out after her, and grabbed her arm. "Hey, hey, what's wrong?"

This time she took it with a soft smile and she left her tea --poor, forgotten tea-- on the bench. Riviera looked at him closely. Aw...Riv, what have you gotten yourself into?

Matt looked her in the eyes. "Well, then, tell me," he said softly.

"It consists of five people. Dad, Jay, Josh, Brooke and," she could barely choke out the last name, "Ben," Abby finally said. "And you know what hurts the most? I thought each and everyone of them loved me at some point in my life."
