She found that grimly funny. "Oh it'd still be this way, only worse most likely."

"Oh." He nodded and bit his lip. "I'm glad I don't wish that, then." He sighed quietly. "Come on, let's go inside."
"I don't want to go inside," Salem said stubbornly.
"Okay." He shrugged. "Do you want to be alone? I can go..."
"no. Stay." she looked up at him through wet lashes. "Please."
He nodded, his eyes soft and caring. "As you wish," he murmured. He raised a hand to her face and gently brushed away the tears.
Her cheeks heated when he touched them, but as involuntary as it was; it felt nice. Salem leaned into his touch before slowing moving back so just the tips of his fingers touched her cheek.
His fingertips traced up along her cheekbone, and he tucked a tendril of stray hair behind her ear. He leaned in slowly and pressed his lips to her forehead. "I'll always be here for you, as long as you want me to be," he whispered against her skin. "Always helping, as much as I can. I promise."
I know, she wanted to say. But instead she just said a simple thank-you.
He smiled, just a little. "No problem." He kissed her forehead, then pulled away to look at her. "It's saddening, seeing you cry. I see you smile so little, compared to how much you cry."
"You should have seen me before: neither."
"That's very sad. Everyone should smile. Especially a girl like you, whose smile lights up the world." He wasn't smiling now, entirely serious.
"Not everyone's world." was all she could manage to say after that.
((Gtg, dinner. I'll be back for a little while after dinner, but then gone again at five.))

Elly smiled in relief. "Thanks... I promise you'll understand after this. And if not... Salem can explain." She caught his hand and tugged him towards his room.
Shadow let her mouth curve in a smile again. "Thanks, so are you."Teeghan sighed. "Well that's good."
Blaze chuckled.
Sean looked up at her, eyes wide in disbelief. "I'm not beautiful," he protested. "You don't call a guy beautiful!" His eyes were smiling, but the rest of his face was completely serious.
He grinned now. Her laugh was intoxicating, and he couldn't help but smile with her. "Fine. It's a bit strange, but I guess that suits us."
"Oh, I know." He kissed the tip of her nose. "That doesn't mean I can't play along. So, shall I call you handsome?"
"Why not?" she winked. "It's how they described girls in the dark ages," Salem smiled slyly.

He smiled and kissed her, the fingers of one hand playing with her hair while he placed the other hand on the back of her neck. He closed his eyes.

His lips parted as he deepened the kiss, happy to be feeling this again, now, when he was so much more in love with her than the first time. His skin tingled where it touched hers, and waves of warmth went through him.

She smiled. "Thanks." She let go of his hand and went into the room. With a sigh she flopped down on the bed and looked up at the ceiling, waiting. Soon she heard a light thump as shoes hit the ground in front of the window.
"So, it's Elly now?" The voice said.
Elly nodded, sitting up. "Salem's idea," she shrugged.
Ellis smiled mockingly. "Cute. So, you're getting on her good side, are you? How about the others? Are you earning their trust yet?"
She frowned, bound to tell the truth. "I like them. Emmy still hates me... And I don't know about Patrik. He just tries to calm her down. Teeghan... I don't know, same with Liv and Blaze. I've been talking to Rife. He... he's starting to trust me more, I think."

She stammered, "What? N-no! Well... maybe... I barely know him!"
He chuckled darkly. "You like him. Well, maybe it's mutual... that would be lucky. It'll make the betrayal harder."
She flinched. "Please, take back that order... I don't want to do it!"
"Sorry, I have orders, too. You're to watch them and let me do what they want, then get them to make a portal, so we can take them back through." He smiled.
Elly sighed. "Don't make me do it! Please!"
"Ah, Lizzie. I can't take it back." He pretended to be remorseful.

She sat up, tears in her eyes. "I... he made me," she whispered. "He made me come here. He ordered me, and I can't disobey that. I just can't. I try, but if I start to I black out, again and again. And it hurts me. I just... I'm sorry. I have to... but it won't happen if you know. It won't be betraying you. I won't be able to convince Patrik to make a portal. It won't happen. That's why I needed you to hear."
Rife looked at her and sighed"Alright, Elly. It'll be ok."
Salem pulled back regretfully as the kiss deepened. "Sean," she whispered his name, softly, like rain falling in the spring. "We should get back."
Blaze smiled at Liv, "I want to show you something."Teegehan put Avery to bed and came back, perching on the end of the couch. "Is she coming back yet?"
"Ok." Liv said"No, give her a minute." Emmy grinned
"Why are you smiling?" Teeghan asked quizzically.Blaze tapped on the screen, pullnig up a site a lot like YouTube.
Emmy shrugged smiling wider. "Sean's there."Liv looked over his shoulder and laughed "Youtube?"
"Ya, YouTube. It's a really funny vid!"Teeghan made a face, "Sean?"
Liv laughed "Seriously?"Emmy smirked "Seriously. Sean."
