I prefer cover 1 - the lighter one, I asked my son too, and he agrees.

I think it depends on the book. This one https://www.goodreads.com/photo/user/..., suggests to me a book with a lighter and more childlike tone. The other, seems a bit darker in nature. Hope this helps!
Looking at the covers from a marketing POV, I would definitely go with the brighter blue one.

I really like the first one, the one where the ant is climbing along the log. It's cute and I think kids would be more drawn to that one. Good luck.
