Barbara Tarn (barbaragtarn) Tough choice! I like the blue one, but the other with those rays of sunshine is also cute... Does the ring have a meaning? Maybe the latter is more telling of a story (I like the colors of the blue one, but it's more static - know what I mean?)...

I like the blue but am worried it is too dark for the age group. And yes, the ring is part of the narrative.

Rod Baker | 119 comments think for kids aged 3-7 the brighter one is better, looks happier, more attractive!

then definitely the one with the ring and the sunshine and more "story" in the cover itself! :)

Zach Tyo (ztyo) | 55 comments I'd go with the brighter one as well, just basing that on the types of books my 4 year old has lined his shelves with.

The bright one with the sunshine rays is better for kids that young. The other one looks a little eerie for kids that age.

I prefer the brighter more somplistic photo cover #1. It appeals better for kids as they look at things better that way. I showed the covers to my 4yo grandson and he wanted me to read #1 as #2 was more 'scarier' to him.

That's a big help, Lisa! The Ant Thief is releasing on Oct 9 but I will be more than happy to send you the book now, for your grandson to read. Please let me know. Thanks again.

Temple Williams (temple_wms) | 6 comments I agree with #1 being #1. I wrote a blog post about covers, if you want to actually "professionally" test different covers, but I think, with your target market, the voice of reason comes from Gita's 4-year-old grandson. Good luck with the book. Here's the blog post: http://warriorpatient.com/blog/?p=169
