She is one of my favorite authors. I actually got to spend the evening with her last week before she came and spoke to our 8th grade Advanced ELA kids. She is an amazing lady! It was very cool to read this after spending time with her, because some of the things she talked about were a part of the story.

I'm already through about 100 pages....it's odd so far.

I'm trying to (view spoiler)[ find analogies for
the man in the bush - is this really a drug dealer?
the helicopter - are they committing suicide? running away?

I can't figure what's real and what's not... (hide spoiler)]

China(view spoiler)[ is probably the only analogy I really DO understand. I feel so bad for her but at the same time, I can see why her friends are who her friends are and why they treat her with kid gloves (hide spoiler)]
