Daniel Haight | 8 comments I’m happy to say that what I said was met with mostly positive feedback. However a noisy minority of people took me to task for what they felt was a ‘libertarian / Pollyanna-like’ mindset and accused me of being blind to the struggles that real people are facing in the Bay Area these days.

Walter Daniels (FBNGroup) | 52 comments I'm of two minds on this. Every individual must decide *for themselves* "do I stay, or do I go?" When I have made that choice, it was based on. "Can I make difference if I remain here?" Obviously, if the answer is "no," then why stay? You will be unhappy, you will make others more unhappy, and achieve no positive effect.
As an "outsider" *I* would not live in the "Bay area," or even in California. There are, based on all available evidence, too many convinced that "theory trumps reality." IOW, "I will force everyone else to live my theories, no matter what the costs. Even as criminals overrun my neighborhood, I will refuse to admit they are dangerous."

True, but every oak tree started out as a nut who decided to stand his ground

IMO, the _best_ cure for Ca is for the good ones to get out, and to let it collapse from its own weight of failures. Otherwise, it will be a State sized Detroit collapse. Dragging down all of the West Coast, and half the country.
