Giada After QoS, in particular in Dorian's POV, I was thinking: all witches are Vault's offspring but Manon with her gold eyes is sure one of Vault King's descendant. SO maybe her Matron is scared by Manon because of her power connection with ancestor Vault King.

message 2: by Nikita (last edited Sep 15, 2015 08:08AM) (new)

Nikita Maybe. I agree that she is descended from a Valg King and remember when it was mentioned that witches with golden eyes are rare and gifted or something like that. Plus, the Duke was very insisting that Manon hand over a Blackbeak coven for the breeding experiment. Maybe it's because of Manon's eyes and what Kaltian said that they wanted kings. Also, I think Manon's grandmother is scared for her for another reason but maybe there is a little fear relating to their Valg ancestor.

Kelly (unapologeticallya) | 62 comments ^ YES good points

message 4: by Giada (new)

Giada sorry Valg ahahah! I wrote vault!

message 5: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 28 comments I think that Manon and Adelina from The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1) by Marie Lu series could have been allies.

Also by the end of Queen of Shadows (Throne of Glass, #4) by Sarah J. Maas I was rooting for her as well as the rest of the gang, except that I don't want Manon with Dorian.

message 6: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Oh thank you! Neither do I.

message 7: by Xoxoasia (new)

Xoxoasia | 97 comments I don't want her with Dorian either. It wouldn't be too bad but I just never saw the two getting together.

message 8: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 18 comments I'm rooting for a Manon/Dorian brotp if not an otp. She could learn from him and he'd probably appreciate another badass female.

message 9: by Josh (new)

Josh Rogan | 9 comments Honestly, if Manon and Dorian end up together I'm never reading another book by Maas because it would just prove that she is incapable of writing a non-romantic relationship between a male and a female character. Is Manon more humanized than the other witches? Sure. Is she most likely going to become a force for good and revolutionize the culture or separate from it? Probably. Does this mean that she's in a place to have a full relationship with a human? Hell no. Maybe in a couple centuries, but definitely not any time soon, if ever at all.

message 10: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I so agree Josh! And definitely not with Dorian for that matter.

message 11: by Brittany (new)

Brittany J Keeler (brittanykeeler) | 5 comments Originally i kinda wanted to see them together but i don't know anymore. I think it would be way better to see Manon and Dorian and by extension Aelin working together as allies instead. It would be so awesome if Manon was like a double agent, working with Aelin and Dorian but still training with the thirteen and rest of the covens in Morath. I dont really see this happening right away, especially with her grandmother still in the picture but hopefully if manon can get rid of her at some point maybe it will happen. At the end of QOS her and asterin say things are changing for the thirteen and the rest of the witches so hopefully at the end of book 5 or in book 6 she allies with Terrasin/Adarlan.

Manon and Dorian as a couple???? I never pictured Manon as a woman for that matter. She is a witch and I am no fan of her. But I have to admit, that I havn´t read QoS yet (it lays on my sub) so I probably missing here some things. But now I am very curious - oh man, a day should have 48 hours and I still wouldn´t have enough time to read *lol*

best wishes
Vi

Xoxoasia | 97 comments "...it would just prove that she is incapable of writing a non-romantic relationship between a male and a female character..."

Maas is able to create a non-romantic relationship. If you've read ACOTAR, you would know that Feyre and Lucien's relationship is just being friends.

message 14: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Would you say that technically, Celaena and Dorian's relationship isn't romantic. Like, they really weren't together for that long in the first book and they really didn't do that much...

message 15: by Xoxoasia (new)

Xoxoasia | 97 comments Celeana and Dorian's relationship did start out as being a romantic relationship (though it was very short). They end up being friends in the end though.

That's true but that was just the first book. Lucien might find a lady love before the end of the series. I'm not saying I agree that Maas doesn't know how to write a non-romantic relationship just that Lucien might find love later on.

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Xoxoasia wrote: "Celeana and Dorian's relationship did start out as being a romantic relationship (though it was very short). They end up being friends in the end though."

Wait when did this happen? I thought there was still a huge possibility of a romance between them at the end of QOS? Also, where does this Lucien + Manon ship come from?! I dunno if I like it more than Dorian + Manon, but I'm definitely not against it.

message 18: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I think they're talking about CoM. I think Aelin and Dorian will remain just friends though, I don't think SJM is gonna change the romance now. Plus with Dorian being the king of Adarlan and Aelin aiming to be Queen of Terrasen it would be too complicated.

And where did that Manon Lucien ship come from?! Wow. I DO NOT ship Dorian and Manon though. Most definitely NOT!!!

message 19: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments I so lost....There's a Lucien and Manon ship?!?
That one new...so is some else wondering where that ship came from?
P.s. @Grace, have you finished reading
CoM(Crown of Midnight)?

message 20: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Hey Natalia, I have read COM. I've read all of SJM's books (except the novellas).

And Lexie, I also hardcore DONT ship Dorian and Aelin together. It would be wayyyy too complicated!

message 21: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I'm not totally against it, but I really don't know how I feel. Who Aelin ends up with isn't my biggest concern, I just want Dorian to have someone and be happy. I think I just don't like the fact that they are related, though distantly but still, for them to be a couple it just seems a little weird. But then I do like the idea of them being together as like, reincarnations of Elena and Gavin, that'd be really cool, and they'd be the most powerful pair of rulers. I really don't know, I'm just content to wait and see what happens.

Though I. DO. NOT. SHIP. DORIAN. AND. MANON. THEY. ARE. JUST. NO!

message 22: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Grace, you need to read the novellas!!! They are amazing!

message 23: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I agree, the Novellas are great.

message 24: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) I KNOW! I really hope I can read them soon.

message 25: by Mirou (new)

Mirou | 186 comments Huh, guys, Lucien is from ACOTAR, the other series of SJM. And some of you are right, SJM said he will eventually find love again and I'm pretty sure it's going to be Nesta :)

Back to QOS. I'm not a big fan of Manorian but at the end of the book, Manon talked about an invisible "thread" pulling her to him. Sure, it can't be a coincidence, what do you think ?

message 26: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments I like that ship I think is cute.

message 27: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I so do not hope Dorian and Manon end up together. Them as a couple would just be wrong! They are complete opposites, it just wouldn't work! I'm gonna hate it if they end up together.

message 28: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments That's a why they make a good mach.(you might hate me for saying that)

message 29: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) @Mirou I KNOW! I found Lucien in ACOTAR too and I was like, WTF are you doing here? Get back in your own series. But he was actually really funny & sexy in ACOTAR, and probably my favorite character.

@Lexie I agree w/ you about Manorian! He would bring some happiness and warmth into her, and she would bring out his more badass side (at least, that's what I'm hoping for.

message 30: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Wait what? I don't want them together...

message 31: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Whoops, sorry Lexie, I meant that for Natalia! :)

message 32: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Haha, it's ok.

message 33: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Grace M thank you for pointing that out, got that a little confused there.

message 34: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Haha sorry about that. ;)

message 35: by Birjis (new)

Birjis Afroz | 122 comments Will Manon end up with Dorian? I don't want them together, I really don't.

message 36: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Same. I can't stand the idea of them together.

message 37: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte (swords-and-shields) | 32 comments Lexie wrote: "Same. I can't stand the idea of them together."
Same here, I dunno it just doesn't seem to fit for me.

message 38: by Xoxoasia (new)

Xoxoasia | 97 comments I know that Rowan is way older than Aelin and I ship them. But with Manon and Dorian, it just seems so weird since she's way older.

message 39: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Plus they're complete opposites, have nothing in common and together they would just be wrong. I mean, Manon is Manon, and Dorian needs someone kind and gentle after what he's been through, someone like Sorscha.

message 40: by Iffat (new)

Iffat | 5 comments Really? I feel like they're kinda perfect for one another. I see Dorian as someone who's felt too much and Manon who hasn't really felt at all (until the last book) and that they can create a balance of some sorts.

Plus, Dorian can't rule or learn to rule with a softy at his side.

Nonetheless, I'm excited to see what happens!

message 41: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (ravenandthehawk) | 387 comments @Iffat, same, total opposites that's what makes them a perfect match.

message 42: by Danielle (new)

Danielle (dancenanny) | 24 comments I'm still neutral on the whole Manon/Dorian thing. Because we haven't gotten much interaction from them. We only got those 2 scenes. And one of those scenes they didn't even speak to each other. Idk if I like it or not. At the moment I don't see them being in a relationship. If anything I see that if they ever were gonna have any chemistry it would be a one night stand sort of thing, because they did kind of flirt a bit. But there hasn't been any crazy love moments or something. Manon still has some development to do. She is starting to have some feelings but we are still not there yet. Let's see what Mass decides to do. I'm still not with it or against it. In my perspective I just haven't gotten much from them. I need to see how they interact better. Maybe they'll just be friends? Or the theory of them being together could happen. I'll have to wait for the next book to find out. AHHHH

message 43: by Jess S (new)

Jess S (mintchip) | 267 comments Ok so I was poking around Assassin's Blade yesterday SPOILER FOR THOSE THAT HAVENT READ QOS...... and I want to see what you guys think. Ansel tells Celeana her story about witches and how they snuck out on the Summer Solstice because there was rumored to be a portal to another world. But on their midnight journey they got caught by a witch and the friend was captured and eaten and all they found were the girls bones...Now I'm thinking that this might actually be the Grandmother Matron. Whom was perhaps in contact with the Vlag realm right around the time the King of Adarlan was being inhabited by a demon...thanks to our friend Perrington. So in QOS I'm kinda wondering what was Grandma up to on the Summer Solstice when Aelin was storming the Glass Castle and destroying the clocktower? Perhaps she was communing again with her favorite Solstice Portal? Could this be used against our the Allies to bring in more Vlag troops?

message 44: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariajmorillo) | 60 comments With the Manorian issue...I don't want it to happen but I was thinking about this the othet day and here's why it might happen: Dorian said she is the most beautiful creature he's ever seen. There's a hint there. Manon was curious about him. She was obviously still thinking about him if the only way she thought she could repay Aelin was to tell her that Dorian was still there. And then there's the thing with Manon's eyes. It was her eyes that pushed the demon away when she first saw Dorian. He is not the aame person he was before the valg prince possesed him, I bet there's still darkness, darkness she can keep at by. I'd ship them if only for this reason: I want him to be happy, and if she can keep thosse memories and that darkness away, I'll be happy. I think she will train him in magic. I don't really see Dorian being trained by Rowan. But Manon...I see her training him, and if that happens, that's probably how they will fall for each other. I still ship Doraelin, but this is why I think Manorian could happen.

message 45: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariajmorillo) | 60 comments I am sorry about all the typos hahaha

message 46: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I still don't think Manon and Dorian though. Yeah Dorian thought that Manon was beautiful, but... So did Aelin. Aelin said Manon was the most beautiful woman she'd ever seen so... I see that as irrelevant.

message 47: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariajmorillo) | 60 comments True. I'd much rather it didn't happen and Manon would just train him and become his friend or somethig, but not romantically. I do believe she would be good for him, maybe take him under his wing as they've both been bossed around by their elders. I would love to read a scene where Aelin' like "let's go check up on Dorian" and then they arrive and there are ice rays shooting all over the place and they're all WTH?! And then they see Dorian and Manon, and then he melts what he froze because he has perfected his raw magic because she helped him!

message 48: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Yeah I wouldn't mind some respectful companionship between them but romantically they would just be wrong.

message 49: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) I've never shipped Doraelin. I can see how someone would, but ever since the first book I've just wanted them to be friends. Thankfully, that seems to be the point they're at right now.

And to all those who say, "What about when they joined their magic together and took down the King? Isn't that foreshadowing?" I say: "You know who else has ice powers? ROWAN. You know who actually trained Aelin to use her powers? ROWAN."

As to Manorian, I ship a friendship or relationship. Either way, they seem like a better couple.

message 50: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I feel the same about Manorian. I've never shipped them and never will, only I don't even see how others do ship them. They just wouldn't work. Even a friendship between them would be tense I reckon, just not right. And those who say well what about all the stuff Manon did in QoS, all logical explanations. Dorian was able to get a bit of control over himself because the Valg prince inside him didn't like Manon's eyes because they are the Valg King's, nothing else. And Manon only saved Dorian's life by telling Aelin because she owed Aelin fir saving her life, and that was the only thing she thought she could do, no other reason. She hung out for a moment to see what happened and make sure her work was done, then flew away on her wyvern. And yeah Dorian said he thought Manin was beautiful, hello so did Aelin. Aelin said Manon was the most beautiful woman she'd seen. But there's no Aelin and Manon ship. Manon's beautiful to everyone so it's irrelevant. Maybe they could manage a respectful companionship, but as a couple, just no.
