Understanding ?

Can anyone tell me if I am understanding this book correctly
So.....,

The revolutionaries are the once reduced people that helped created the drugs from the book "for darkness shows the stars "

The people that are taking the pills were once aristo' (aka luddities) from the previous book

Regs are also known as the children of the reduction or posts

I want to love this book as much as its companion novel but I am just having trouble understanding the dialogue and the meaning of all the names, if anyone out there can give me any information on understanding this book ( NO SPOILERS ) that would be really helpful thanks.
