Liz I've been perusing for a good book about Jeffrey Dahmer, but I'm coming up empty. Reviews for "The Jeffrey Dahmer Story: An American Nightmare" are pretty off-putting. There's so much out there I'm just wondering if any true crime fans have a recommendation?

PS I'm not into true crime to read gross details (though I'm not squeamish about it either) so I'm not looking for one that has the highest level of detail about the crimes necessarily - I'm more interested in a book that offers insight into the killer's motive, or has interesting investigative angle.

Any suggestions welcome!! Thanks!

Sheryl | 49 comments Liz -- I read My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf , a graphic novel by Derf Backderf. That may be the first graphic novel I've read, and I found it to be a great read.

PS: If you see two books with different titles but the same author, they are most likely the same book.

Liz Thanks everyone! Heard good things about the graphic novel, the format isn't my thing but maybe I'll check it out! Also the Shrine gets great reviews, but no kindle format?? Definitely gave me some great titles to go through, thanks!

Doug Richardson The Bundy Murders by Kevin Sullivan. Not gross at all, just a chilling bones to flesh telling of Bundy's exploits from start to capture told much through the points of view of those who knew him.

Fishface | 18961 comments The best one I've found on this guy was THE SHRINE OF JEFFERY DAHMER, but MY FRIEND DAHMER is also wonderful.

Hi, Fishface,
I was wondering whether anyone else in the group read Derf Backderf's book. I really liked it, and it also introduced me to graphic novels as a legitemate genre. I believe I read somewhere that it will be a movie soon. Have you heard that?

message 12: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 18961 comments Gee, no -- is Backderf animating it?
