SOLVED. Along the lines of Crossfire and Pearl [s]

Its a series. The last book ends with her taking a bullet and everything going black. Okay so I can't remember much at all except the last two books. He is a billionaire meets the woman who becomes his partner. The body guard falls for her best friend who is an indie writer. His assistant type person always wears black and her hair in perfect bob style but has two very dramatic adult children. They all go for holiday and crash on an island. That ends that book it was book 2 or 3. Turns out the island is inhabited by people who created their own world and hold them hostage but as he goes to get money to pay them from the bank on the nearest known inhabited island she races to save him and jumps in front of the bullet and ends with her blacking out. End of the last book I read in series.......and I really want to know what happened next.
