Grasshopper Jungle

Regarding Arek "Lucky" Szerba and the end of Grasshopper Jungle

*spoilers*
Am I the only one who thinks it's entirely possible that, given the unreliable narrator and the fact that Lucky sleeps in his father's bedroom and not his mother's, that the sex scene in the bowling alley might not have been non-consentual on Shann's part?
In the narrative one of the themes is how history repeats itself, particularly with Austin's family history. Austin especially feels like he can relate to his great-grandfather, who was a homosexual when he was young until his lover died during the Great Depression. This same great-grandfather went on to sire Austin's grandfather by raping his employer's daughter.
There are a lot of untied plot threads in this book and many of them seem to be irrelevant to the story, but what if the detail about the rape was meant to be some kind of foreshadowing, or to imply that this would once again repeat itself?
This might also explain why Lucky sleeps in the bedroom with his father, and not with his mother, since she might have some ill feelings towards him and what he reminds her of.
(That aside, who else thinks it's a very frustrating cop-out to have Austin, Shann, and Robby be the only remaining people in their age group left on the known planet, so that Shann and Robby can't find someone else to be in a relationship with and made Austin confront his feelings? I am pleased to have a polyamorous character in YA fiction, but to have him be so blatantly disrespectful to both of the people he loves just portrays polyamory terribly.)

i just finished reading the book and is specificly states that shane helped austin put his penis inside of her, as he was a virgin and had no idea what he was doing, so it probably wasn't rape.
i think the book is just not inrested in shane at all, and the sole purpose of her was to be a walking set of female organs so austin could be queer but not gay and that he would have a polish boy to raise as his own, making sure the story about austin's heritage is closed and has a happy ending. maybe also she has some negative feeling because she didn't want to be pregnent, but also naybe the boy stayed with her when she was breastfeeding and now he is with his father, so it's actually equall.
