A few minutes later Brendan reappeared with a tray that held a mug and a pot of hot water, along with a few choice tea bags and other items for the cup. "Here you go," the boy said, sliding the tray onto the coffee table in front of Brian.

"Well... I shouldn't tell you, but I'm pretty sure it's just a tactical survival course. I don't think you'll have a problem with it." That is, if it didn't get sabotaged.
"I didn't say-" Brendan froze. "Do you have other abilities?" he asked, not answering the question.

Brendan nodded slowly, turning to leave. "Good luck tomorrow," he wished before slipping out the door.
The next day, Kahea sat in a pile of pillows underneath a big tree that overlooked a low gulley, where servants were putting the finishing touches on the course for the day. She wore something similar to before, only this time the dress was blue and the paint on her body was white against her tan skin.
Kahea turned her attention to the group of men in the field, searching for Brian. Her face lit up when she saw him, wishing he could head down there, but she would get in trouble. She sipped her coffee, watching Brian for a moment.
Kahea grinned at Brian, unaware of any of the other contestants or servants watching them. "I love you too," she mouthed back.
"The rest of us have as much of a chance with her as you do," the guy growled back, looking from Brian to Kahea. "Just because you illegally got to her only makes your reputation with the council worse."

Three or so guys rolled their eyes. "Yeah, you do that," one muttered, honing in on an announcement maker as he stepped up to a podium.
"Two teams," the announcer started, looking down at a piece of paper. "On team blue-" a list of six names rolled off his tongue," and team purple," again, three, then, "Mersjif, Brian, and Kai." Kahea rolled her eyes. They'd cockily chosen her favorite colors. Loose terms for them anyway.
The announcer gave the rules of the game, that they weren't to kill anyone, yada yada, and after, Mersjif, Kai and the three other competitors, Joel, Ghost and Sabin turned in towards Brian for the six to discus their plan. They knew that the losing team would have their weakest member disqualified from the entire marriage competition, unless a game rule was broken, so they had to work together.
Mersjif glanced at Brian, and, ever the leader took the step forward and instructed, "I know it's an obstacle course, but it's also sort of a relay." A slow, evil grin spread across his face. "He said no killing, but that didn't include maiming, so..."
Mersjif rolled his eyes. "I've no idea how you wrangles Kahea without dominance," he muttered under his breath, taking second place.

Mersjif didn't care. When he won, Kahea would answer only to him. One thing he would have promised the late king would have been to stop Kahea's flighty, free-spiritedness, but he didn't say it now as he watched Brian run the course. Kahea watched from above with interest, still feeling weak from the necklace but getting used to it.
Mersjif took off the second Brian reached the starting line, clearing through the course with supernatural speed.
Kahea rested her head back against the tree, now bored and focusing on just watching Brian from afar. Before she knew it, Brian's entire team had made it through the course and the judges stepped away to decide who had done worse on the opposing team.
"Kajiit," one of the judges beckoned a younger, inexperienced man over. "You are disqualified from the running for Kahea's hand."

"Alright, now, everyone may disperse." The elder judge held up his hands to wave the men away, and Kahea sat up straighter, willing Brian to face her so she could see him.
Kahea gave a small wave, waiting for everyone to leave before standing and heading home herself.
((Do you want to skip to a few days later? Like after a few more competitions have gone by?))

Kahea was walking down a hallway, jitterish as she knew the next day was her birthdate, which meant servants were bustling about and competitors were eyeing her. She clenched her jaw; tomorrow, the rule of leaving her alone was dropped, but at least that meant she could see Brian.
((The final challenge isn't for a few days... It's just that the next day is her birthday.))
Kahea wandered the halls for a bit more before deciding to head to her personal library, which was a giant room in itself.

Kahea busied herself in the library for a little while, looking over a few books that had come in while she was away.
Once Kahea was bored with looking through the books she went to look out the floor-to-ceiling windows, leaning her head against the glass. After a moment she saw a wolf in the distance and frowned, wishing she could shift. But instead, she watched the wolf which she soon figured out was Brian.
Kahea watched Brian more closely, smiling to herself. Was he training? She chuckled and waved, though not sure if he could see her.

((Ooo... Want them to provoke him?))
