Question about The 5th Wave

As far as I remember in the book after the first wave there was no electricity at all. This might be a difference between the book and the movie and they have probably justified this somehow, maybe they didn't want to shoot totally dark scenes? Idk, we'll just have to wait till the movie comes out. P.S. does anybody know when the third book ("The Last Star") comes out?
I had thought there was no power. But nobody wants to go see a movie where the audience can't see what's going on. It doesn't matter with a book because you're in the character's head (especially in a YA novel). But it really makes a movie crappy. A lot of the moving around happened at night. I'd rather have limited pockets of electricity than too-stupid-to-live characters roaming around in broad daylight during an alien invasion.
I wonder if they'll even explain it. There isn't all that much attention to detail with movies hoping to be blockbusters nowadays. Of if they actually do explain it, it's probably going to be "batteries weren't affected/we created a new battery in the last few weeks".Just to pick apart the trailer a bit more. The people seem remarkably well groomed for living in "darkness".
Someone who has read the book. Do cars still run more than a year after power has been cut off to the world?

Now I don't know if this is where the trailer diverges from the book, but in the trailer during the 5th wave, lights are on, planes are flying, military vehicles are moving. That means power was restored, or the aliens thought it wasn't all the much fun with no power and turned it back on.
Is this a consistency error in the book or the movie?
