And at this stage I still think Ziri's soul is out there, despite the fact that Karou couldn't retrieve it from the body. I'm HOPING that the rebels won the battle after all, and used Ziago's body on that banner as a trap for when Jael came back. After all, he will see what he expects to see and I highly doubt he knows all the Dominion or all the Misbegotten. It would definitely be a good ploy to catch him unawares and kill him if Akiva and Karou were unable to... and I can totally see Liraz orchestrating this :|
PLUS. The "Dominion" soldier called Jael "sir" rather than emperor, and Jael didn't recognise him. And as for the woman waiting in his tent? That's SO Liraz.

Oh my God! I really want to write something to put here, but they just talk and talk and talk. There's still a lot of misunderstandings between Karou, Akiva and "Thiago". The angels and the chimera keep fighting each other... I don't want to keep repeting myself that Karou should just tell Akiva that Thiago is Ziri, because I already said that, but come on!

And when the story cuts to people I don't even care for... Oh God! I remember that this book is reeeeally long!

I love Laini's writing, but this time it was really enervating. I lot of times I just wanted her to get to the point. It was too much.

A lot of people didn't like the ending. It's not my case. I liked it. I didn't like other things. All the POVs from characters that I didn't even know who they were, the writing style that took forever to say the most simple thing, the way that Karou and Akiva seemed to be in an eternal angst...



And the subplots... Sometimes I got really lost. It was a good book, but not as good as the first two. It could have been shorter.

We also have razgut's story to figure out, which will probably lead to some massive revelation. I preferred the others to this one, but this one is still good (hide spoiler)]

I would've been fine if the book was a bit shorter, and that hadn't been included. There was also a lot more that I wanted to see at the ending. I wanted to go through the emotions of Amzallag's reunion with his family, and the resurrections of the souls in the cathedral. I wanted to see Zuzana and Mik's marriage, the whole three fairy tale task thing was so fun. I would've loved to see more of Ziri and Liraz, and their journey through their past. Also, where the heck did Jael disappear to?? The entire book built up to it, and then he just left. I enjoyed this one, but I didn't find it as good as the others. (hide spoiler)]

I think it's brilliant strategy for them to appear as they did to the humans, no offense to us, but when it comes to religion and faith we can be so vulnerable.

The tension there was super unnecessary, it wouldn't have changed anything if he knew, we just would've had to deal with a lot less of his self pity (hide spoiler)]

And damn if I wasn't happy as hell Zuzana's guy stole from that evil old lady, who also got what she deserved as is stuck with Razgut (insert evil laugh!!!).

Plus how do the Angel and Chimera worlds meld together after all this, will it even work long term? There will always be those that think like Jael and will support his cause. Not to say I would expect him to just sit back and go away, meaning they’d always have to be on guard for whenever Jael gains enough power to seek revenge. He’s a damn villain, they don't just stop being bad guys lol Ziri and Liraz like Karou and Akiva will be key to integrating their people even just as figureheads and good examples. Honestly I can’t belive how long the epilogue was and how much was left out is staggering and disappointing lol It’s such a bummer too because we’ve spent like 1,000+ pages with these characters, it’s not too much to ask for a decent wrapup after all we’ve invested.
