Karen (coffeeandconversationblog) | 3 comments Rachel, I also kept losing track of her age. My mind was picturing her 16-ish. Then I'd remind myself she was19 and have to re-picture her in my mind. But overall the story was good at bringing her up to maturity and then I could picture her older. I did enjoy the story.

I took ballet, tap, and Hawaiian. Then in high school I was involved in a modern dance group. I would absolutely love to take ballroom & country western dancing lessons, but am married to a guy who doesn't like to dance.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I finally finished this one yesterday! In spite of the mixed reviews, I thoroughly enjoyed it! It's definitely up there with The Maid of Fairbourne Hall and The Girl in the Gatehouse. I actually found it very refreshing to read about a less-than-perfect heroine who made mistakes and looked for love in the wrong places. It almost felt like reading about Lydia from Pride and Prejudice or Marianne from Sense and Sensibility. I also really enjoyed seeing more of the story from the hero's perspective, especially as Alec was such an interesting character. The mystery about Julia's family and why dancing was banned was very intriguing. I think my only complaint would just be that the spiritual thread wasn't woven into the story as well as I'd like.

Loraine (librarydiva) | 4436 comments Beginning to wonder if I will ever come up as #1 on the e-book from my library. Last I checked I was #3. Sounds like this is a good book.

Loraine (librarydiva) | 4436 comments Finally got this from the downloadable library in our county. I felt like the plot moved a little slowly but liked the story line and the characters. Julia seemed to be looking for love in all the wrong places due to feeling neglected and unable to please either parent. I thought both Alec and John Desmond were strong characters who dealt with their adversities by making good choices.
