Kasi Blake (kcblake) | 8 comments Someone just joined under my name KC Blake, and they are writing porn. My books are aimed at teens. How can I stop them from using my name on here?

Dee (austhokie) | 897 comments Or someone else uses the name KC Blake..

Someone can disambiguate the two profiles and separate them

K.C., you currently have the default profile for authors named K.C. Blake. This means that any books imported and any books added manually by someone who isn't aware that there are multiple authors by this name will appear on your author profile until a librarian moves them to a different author profile.

If you are worried about other authors' books showing up as yours, one thing which can be done is to swap you and the other K.C. Blake so that you are not the one with the default author profile. This would mean that any new records automatically imported would appear not on your author profile but on the other one. This can be both good and bad, of course: you won't get anyone else's books appearing on your author page, but you won't get your own books appearing there either until they are moved there by a librarian, which would mean that you'd need to either enter any new records yourself (the import won't add records if they're already here) or keep an eye out for any imported records and post in this group to claim them.

If you decide you want to do that, you'll need to email Support to request that you be shifted off of the K.C.^Blake profile onto a different K.C. Blake profile (it has to be Support; librarians can't do this). If you don't want to do this, just carry on! Librarians can always move other authors' books off of your author profile as soon as you let us know about them. (It's unnecessary to specify whether you dislike the genre of the book in question, by the way. If it's not cataloged correctly, it will be fixed.)

Kasi Blake (kcblake) | 8 comments If I want to change MY name, how do I do that on here? And how do I get all of my books under that name?

Eggp | 48 comments Edit: disregard, I was wrong!
You can change your name (or any other information) by clicking "edit data" on your profile page, to the right of the about section. Any changes to your name will automatically be reflected in all of your books. :)

Er, no. If the name on the author profile does not match the name on the book then the author profile will most likely be renamed so that it does match. It must be the same name as on the books.

Eggp | 48 comments Oh dear, my mistake! The note on the name field of a regular author says "note: changing this affects ALL books by this author", I didn't know it was different for Goodreads authors, my apologies.

It DOES affect all the books by that author. My point was that if the author profile name is changed to something that does not match their books it will be changed back. That applies to non-Goodreads authors as well as Goodreads authors as you have just proven with Isadora Duncan.

Eggp | 48 comments Ah, okay! I'm misunderstanding everything today, thank you for explaining. :) Sorry again, all.

Just to clarify: any books you have published under the name K.C. Blake will always be listed here under the name K.C. Blake. If you begin using a different pen name, we can list that pen name as a secondary author in order to tie these books to your new name, but we don't remove K.C. Blake from any books published that way.

(Speaking of new names, would you like to have your Kasi Blake books listing K.C. Blake as a secondary author and/or have us add a note to the bio of Kasi Blake pointing to your K.C. Blake author profile?)

Plethora (bookworm_r) | 359 comments Can her profile be changed to add extra space so new books aren't auto assigned to this profile and she doesn't need to establish a pen name?

It has been done before but she would need to contact Customer Support about it with no certainty that they would agree. For what is worth she would then probably need to ask us to move her NEW books to her profile because they would likely still get added to the ine-space page.

If this is the book in question then I would say it doesn't look like 'porn'.

Kerry (geniusscientist) | 70 comments I agree, it's a Romance novel, not porn.
