A place to discuss the pairing that is Feyre & Tamlin.

Xoxoasia | 97 comments In the beginning, I was all the way for Tamlin and Feyre. C'mon, who wouldn't fall for there romance? When Rhys was introduced, I was like "How do we pick between the two?" They both are perfect and in my mind, extremely hot. In the end, I think I'm always going to ship Feyre and Tamlin though. We'll see if that changes in the next book!

message 3: by Umaira (new)

Umaira (marley_teal) | 46 comments Am I the only one who still ships these two? Because if Feyre really chooses Rhysand in the next books, her love for Tamlin will be exactly as Amarantha said. Fickle, inconsistent, and all pretense. Also, Tamlin was the reason this whole book happened.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

No, you're not. I disliked Rhysand's dickheaded self in the beginning of the book and that's gonna take some time to go away. I hold grudges ;P Besides, I prefer gentlemen over playboys(except Dorian).

Xoxoasia | 97 comments I love Rhysand alot, but I will always ship Feyre and Tamlin.

message 6: by Obianuju (new)

Obianuju Chinemelu Why do so many people want rhysand and feyrehtogether? Ugh tamlin and feyreh all the way no matter what.

birne (bebebirne) | 6 comments I agree with you! I love feyre and tamlin so much!

Tash (littletee) | 21 comments So do I! I love Rhys as a character, but Tam will always be my fav for Feyre.

message 9: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) I shipped Tamlin and Feyre so hard in the first half of this book, but Rhysand kinda won me over! I still could be swayed, though.

Same here. 90% of the book I was Team Tamlin, I even detested Rhysand at first because I thought he would get in the way, but now I ship Rhysand & Feyre so bad. I could probably be swayed as well, but from what I can tell of the summary for the second book, that will be impossible. "Dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power", a greater evil AND the Night Court! I can't wait!

message 15: by Erin (new)

Erin O'Roark I think one of the reasons people liked Rhys so much was because he had more air time, almost. Maas spent so much time building Feyres character that Tamlin got lost a little bit. Then he was completely absent for the last 1/3 of the book. In that time we got to see Rhys in full glory.

But Tamlin and Feyres romance was so beautiful and the way they fought for each other was great. I don't want Maas to pull this "oh she told me she wanted to be with someone else" bullshit in this book as well.

I'm seriously sick of love triangles.

Agree 1000% percent.

Thanks God I'm not the only one who thinks the same!! I hope there will be not a development like Juliette-Adam-Warner in Shatter me. Here the first novel was about the proof of true love!!! Come on!!!

message 18: by Giada (new)

Giada Of course I'm not against Rhys! I love bad guys who hide a good side and he has been ever for Feyre as she needed but no please... Already in ToG my ship Chaolin doesn't exist anymore.. ahahah

You're definitely not the only one! I agree with you! As of now, I'm still for Tamlin and Feyre just because, as you said, the entire purpose of ACOTAR would be thrown out the window if Feyre went for Rhysand. Maybe Rhys is Tamlin's foil?

Vivian Chen (Vivian's Book Pavilion) (viviansbookpavilion) Although by the end of ACOTAR i kind of change my mind toward Rhys...and he might be one of my favorite among all of SJM's books. But I will still and always ship Feyre and Tamlin. (Unless Feyre's personality change extremely like Celeana...well...then I might reconsider it.)
I saw many previous discussion about how similar Feyre and Rhys are...however, that doesn't mean they'll be a great couple...(or mate) So...keep hoping that "Chaoleana" wouldn't happen again in ACOMAF!!!!! Ahhhh!!!!!

message 22: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (pennyjammin) | 4 comments I don't know, I wasn't as drawn in towards Rhysand as I was to Tamlin. But I'm not against Rhys at all.

Vivian Chen (Vivian's Book Pavilion) (viviansbookpavilion) Well...he isn't a simple fae...let's wait until ACOMAF. Just that Rhys behavior was quite interesting...not sure whether good or bad

message 24: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Yes indeed it was. I really didn't like him at first but he got more interesting, especially towards the end. Now he seems like a very grey character.

Agreed ^^^^

At first I was all "You're going DOWN!" and then it was "Wait. But I kind of like you" haha. I have very mixed feelings towards Rhysand. I still ship Feyre with Tamlin, but Rhys makes everything a little grey

Vivian Chen (Vivian's Book Pavilion) (viviansbookpavilion) I totally agree with you!!!

message 27: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Rebekah, whaddaya mean by 'grey'? I don't really understand.... but I def agree with you on the 'wait, I kinda like you'. SO ACCURATE. :)

Rebekah (jabberwockyslayer) | 171 comments Grace Meredith wrote: "Rebekah, whaddaya mean by 'grey'? I don't really understand.... but I def agree with you on the 'wait, I kinda like you'. SO ACCURATE. :)"

By grey I mean just that Rhysand is an ambiguous character. Like you want to hate him, but you also feel sorry for him, and you question his relationship with Feyre.
Grey also as in wrong vs. right. The whole point of ACOTAR was Feyre and Tamlin's love...right? But now that Feyre is spending time with Rhysand, and they have an atypical relationship (as opposed to her relationship with Lucien, which is fairly normal), some readers are questioning if maybe Feyre should be with Rhysand. He's a confusing character.

Does that make more sense?

message 29: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Yup, now I understand! And I definitely agree as well. He's a really interesting character.

message 30: by Hannah (new)

Hannah What I'm sick of hearing is that Rhys is the bad boy and Tamlin is the good guy. Rhys had some redemption towards the end. Yet Tamlin...not so much. I don't get why everyone thinks Tamlin is so nice. He was going to kill Feyre if she didn't go live with him. Feyre didn't really have much of a choice she was basically forced to live with him. Tamlin wanted to break his curse...I don't blame the guy for TRYING yet if he was really a good guy would he threaten to kill her?!? The dude is such a coward he was the only court that didn't do anything to try and stop the Queen under the mountain. I can see very easily why Rhys would despise him. Heck I'm starting to as well....

I see your point. But what about this? Tamlin gave Feyre a choice: die or come live with him. It wasn't much of a choice, but it was better than living in poverty...or dying. Rhysand never gave her a choice. He drugged her and made her like his toy in front of Amarantha (spelling?).
I don't think either of them are inherently good or bad. It's just that, being Lord of the Night Court, Rhys is easier to see as the antagonist. Yes, he did well in the end, but he also was the source of a lot of trouble.
Tamlin did his best to break the curse held over his people and get rid of Amarantha. I wouldn't exactly describe him as a coward for waiting for a girl to break his curse.

Not trying to be argumentative, just bringing in another perspective

message 32: by Lexie (new)

Lexie I agree Rebekah. And remember what Rhys did when he first showed up, it kinda made him seem bad and terrible, I remember that's what I thought of him at first anyway, so that's why he was seen as an antagonist. But yes there is definitely more to him.

message 33: by Tash (last edited Jan 16, 2016 08:18AM) (new)

Tash (littletee) | 21 comments Why anyone feels like bashing either Tamlin or Rhys? They both made a choice waaaay before Feyre ever existed. Rhys chose that he will protect his people by bowing to Amarantha, Tamlin chose to protect his people by refusing her and keeping a hint of his power in the hopes he'll someday brake the curse and be able to kill her and free Prythian - I mean, he knew very well what he was doing.

Rhys thought what he did was best at the time, but he ended up regretting the choices and actually admired Tamlin for what his choice was. It's funny, because they both regretted their choices and would probably both think what the other did was smarter/better for their people. I think why Rhys hated Tamlin for a bit there is because he thought he'd work harder to find a human girl, work harder to brake the course, he thought Tamlin was just giving up and he hated him for it.

Hypothetically, if this was a story based on true events (lol) and Tamlin and Feyre were real living beings who make their own choices - I am pretty sure Tamlin would not have killed Feyre even if she chose death then - he is not that stupid, lol. He'd just have made up something else, to lure her in. She was the last chance for him to free Prythian.

Remember Rhys saying that if he dies, he at least wants to be remembered as someone who fought against Amarantha? He wanted to be remembered like Tamlin would be. Tamlin didn't budge. The reason he didn't help Feyre during the "games" was that he couldn't help her without loosing her. Amarantha was very sure of Feyre not REALLY loving Tamlin and vice versa, he wouldn't give her proof of it, because that would mean sure death.

Just saying, I think they can both become great characters if Maas chooses to develop them. Tamlin lacked character & Rhys was an ass for most of the book, they both need a bit of redeeming in the next one. ;)

YES YES YES AND YES. DID I SAY YES? I MEANT YES. They are both amazing characters with a lot of potential, and I agree that Tam lacked personality and Rhys was a dick, but there's just SO much more to them. I'm very excited for what ACOMAF will bring.

message 38: by Xoxoasia (new)

Xoxoasia | 97 comments @Tash Tamlin and Rhysand do have some redeeming to do in the next book, like you said. I think Feyre has already forgiven Tamlin, though. She still is probably not so friendly towards Rhys, especially because of their deal. I think she is grateful that he saved her life in multiple situations, however. Alot is going to happen in the next book.

message 39: by ren (new)

ren (goodreadscomuser_centuricn) It's really hard to choose between Rhys and Tamlin! I mean, Rhys had a damn good reason to behave like that to Feyre and I have the feeling that he has no big interest in her so I think that the FeyrexRhys ship is going to sink and Tamlin (my little precoius cinnamon roll with Aedion) is going to be together with Feyre till the bitter end ( and fight for her)! (As if, Sarah is not going to make this easy for us so be prepared when Sarah rips out our hearts and makes confetti out of them!)

message 40: by Tash (new)

Tash (littletee) | 21 comments Cecy, I actually want to see Tamlin really fight for her, I want him to show more character and vulnerability and just be awesome and scary and wicked and powerful. I love Tamlins character and I really just want them to stick together trough thick and thin, but he's too put together and if the author doesn't make him fight for Feyre, then I think everyone (including Maas) will just ship Rhys, lol

message 41: by Grace Meredith (new)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Tash wrote: "Cecy, I actually want to see Tamlin really fight for her, I want him to show more character and vulnerability and just be awesome and scary and wicked and powerful. I love Tamlins character and I r..."

Definitely agree. If Tamlin's character doesn't develop into something a little more defined and badass, then this ship is definitely going down. I'm not saying he HAS to be a bad boy to be thought of as a serious character, I just think he's very bland right now. Sweet, and adorable, but bland.

message 42: by Lexie (new)

Lexie Yeah I agree.

message 43: by Obianuju (new)

Obianuju Chinemelu Yes. This is so true. Thanks cecy for saying this. Ieel likeher and tamlin are endge and otp but their story needs something more. Tamlin needs something more

message 44: by Giada (new)

Giada I ship Feyre and Tamlin but the symbols that Maas put in ACOTAR made me think.. At the beginn the painting onto dresser suggest something different: the violets and rosee of Elain's drawer remember too much the garden of Tamlin of the spring court, the flames around Nesta's of Lucien and summer court, and at last the night sky around Feyre's of Rhys and his court. Maybe the night sky ist such an input to the future power of Feyre, to fly in the sky with her new wings. But Maas is so misunderstanding sometimes. In CoM for example when you read for the first time the Fae's song you think about Celeana as assassin and Chaol as Knight. But then you understand that there is not such a thing and you can put a comparison also for Aelin and Rowan as the warrior

message 45: by Giada (new)

Giada Autumn court sorry..

message 46: by Giada (new)

Giada And when Tam spoke about the mate bond: he said that faeries usually get married but even the marriage become insignificant because of a mate bond
I'm scared.

Vivian Chen (Vivian's Book Pavilion) (viviansbookpavilion) We can never predict SJM's book...only hope that are favorite ship wouldn't be parted

Yesssss. I was all googly-eyed about Feylin in ACOTAR though I didn't really know much about Tamlin and despised- loathed, even- Rhys. Then ACOMAF happened and now I don't know how anyone can create a better bae than Rhys. Would be REALLYYY hard.
