Advice on good study habits.

Zombieslayer⚡Alienhunter (theslayingisthunter) Waiting until you have a week to write four different book reports before the year ends and you're about to fail English is a very, very, very bad idea.
Read the book, write the report.
Just because you CAN wait DOES NOT mean you should.

Index cards and highlighters.
Preferably both colored.

And use a planner to keep track of test dates and due dates, so you don't do the thing Z explicitly forbid. I recommend that Day Designer daily agenda because it's freaking amazing. (I'll link in a second.) It really helps keep track of stuff.

Zombieslayer⚡Alienhunter (theslayingisthunter) Huh.
Gee, I bet that'd be a lot better than the weird little notes on my calendar that, at this point, even I can't read.

Yessss, it's awesome.

message 7: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) I lay on my bed when I do homework or study and have everything spread out around me.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh man, I wouldn't be able to concentrate in that type of situation. I'd be constantly thinking about the mess and how I'd organize everything laying out around me.

message 9: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Normally I'm organized but when studying I need everything for that class spread out. It's weird.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I lovvvveeee organization.

Weird And Odd Take notes
Take notes
Take notes
If you cannot memorize a list of ten random things in ten seconds
Take notes

BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH AVID IS DESTROYING MY MENTAL CAPACITY

I don't study... XD I look at notes the day of a test or sometimes only right before a test.
I just can't study. I fall asleep or get bored/distracted.
Same thing when I'm actually IN school. Whenever a teacher says they're going to explain something I didn't understand again, I get happy and reallyyyyyy try to focus. The next thing I know, they're done and I didn't hear a word they said. I zone out ridiculously fast and at any moment. This includes DURING tests which makes taking them "tons" of fun. Majority of test time is me looking out the window or around the room and shifting around in my chair.

Memorize everything. Literally. Take notes in different colors(I like to use bright colors for definitions and dark colors for notes/headings). Sticky notes are your best friends. So is your agenda; it actually has a reason! It might be best to also buy a planner/calendar, especially if you have the tendency to forget this when you're stressed.

I use a website for memorizing stuff. ;)
Guys, there's a site called Quizlet where you create a "set" & study off of that. You dont need an account to study off of other people public sets, but you do to create your own. I've been a member there for almost 3 years now & it's seriously helped me, so give it a try. :)

I know, right? I'd most likely fail most of my classes...

And homework.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Mother legitimately just took away my APUSH textbook and forced me to take a break from it.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm probably going to gain 15 pounds from all of the studying I have to do. I took wayyyyy too big of a workload of classes.

O_O

While I'm the kind of kid that gets distracted by EVERYTHING & tends to procrastinate. A LOT.

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) My senior year of high school was torture. 5 AP classes.

message 24: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) I survived!

message 25: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Eh. My friends were in the same boat. Best friend had 4 AP. Makes college an easier transition.

Or..you could lose fifteen pounds. Think of the positives.

It depends on the type of AP you take. Whatever you do...DON'T take AP Biology. Just..don't.
