The book is about a young guy working in construction as a brick layer while raising his younger brothers and sister with barely enough food to eat. The dad left and he took over the mortgage. His boss (I think his name was David) thinks all he does is sleep around. His dad comes back and tries to kill him/take the house. He gets injured but one of the client insists he finishes working on his yard/fountain.
