Wednesday was a holiday as well. Yes, it is sort of annoying to have a Thursday off and go back on Friday, but my school doesn't care about that. They're probably searching for a Saturday to compensate for the lost days.

I'm looking forward to the xmas weekend (4 days!!) as with my job I normally have to work all non-Bank Holidays around it so having 25th - 28th AND a 3 day weekend for New Year is going to be an awesome feeling :D

I don't work weekends so any bank holidays get added to them ;) We have staff who have to work during the holidays and over weekends, those ones I feel sorry for :(

Yeah they do, we try to work the shifts out to be fair to everyone but sadly holidays cannot be taken off by our company :(

Yep, we have those who don't celebrate Christmas volunteering to work it, those with young families get it so they can spend the morning and those who don't aren't put down to work the evenings, then we try to flip it all for New Year's eve and New Year's Day. A lot of thos who don't celebrate xmas would prefer to be able to go out and see in the NY with friends and family & some people just aren't fussed by it all and would rpefer the double time.... so it usually works itself out :) It just can be hopeless when someone decides that not only does he want to take his allocated shifts off before the lead up to xmas but he also won't be available to work for the 4 days before or after.... as he conveniently booked his tickets BEFORE finding out whether his holiday request was granted or not !! So that's 10 days, including extra work over the festive period, where we are an extra person down (we'd already granted 1 holiday request for a person in that area).
