All the best for 2017! May we get to read many books and enjoy them as well. And of course be happy and healthy :)
I guess we're on the same boat then :/ I'm battling with depression and anxiety without meds and with a stressful year at school instead.
I'm back to work (and so to school) today too. My holidays were not bad but not really good either. I was sick for a week (actually everybody was sick at home...) and I had a lot of papers to correct (we don't give work to our students during Chirstmas holidays in my school so they can rest and celebrate with their family. So everything is done before and so teachers have a lot to do during the holidays...)Now, I'm happy to see my students again and to resume our different projects (booktubes, book covers, oral presentations and so on).
Hope you feel better soon Hallie and Aaron!

I'd like to share that quotation by Neil Gaiman with you:"Be kind to yourself in the year ahead.
Remember to forgive yourself, and to forgive others. It's too easy to be outraged these days, so much harder to change things, to reach out, to understand.
Try to make your time matter: minutes and hours and days and weeks can blow away like dead leaves, with nothing to show but time you spent not quite ever doing things, or time you spent waiting to begin.
Meet new people and talk to them. Make new things and show them to people who might enjoy them.
Hug too much. Smile too much. And, when you can, love."
Hallie wrote: "Nice quote, martin! Oh, and your school sounds really nice from a students point of view ;P"I love that quote!
My school is specialised in applied arts, design and architecture. Our students are just amazing and really creative! We are preparing the open days in March. I will take photos and post them so you can see how awsome things they can do!
That sounds amazing! I wish I went to your school, but I'm very bad at French (and Math ;P). Oh, I'd love to see that!

You could maybe apply for a job as English assistant in France. Each year, we welcome an English speaking person as an assistant.
Yes, nice quote. Going to save it (along with some of the Harry potter ones on this group). I'm quite new to the group. I didn't realise it was a young adult one when I joined... I'm a bit older and read/listen to a range of books. I'm from England.
I'll check it out, martin :) Me as an assistant would be a hilarious sight, though!
Sophie, a warm welcome to you! :) Well, we recently changed our system, and now have a separate section dedicated to read books other than young adult. Besides, this group is not strictly young adult, so we read classics, mystery and so on, too, except for non-fiction.

Hi everyone! It's almost midday here! I'm waiting for my daughters to come back from school. After lunch we will go to the library and borrow some books.Sophie- I'm 36, but still think I'm a young adult!
Hallie- try things you are not used to do... You would be surprised...!
Hope you feel better (Aaron and Hallie). I know what being sick means. I suffer from myalgia, muscle pain ( I was infected by a virus). Some days it's even hard to feed myself, to write on the board (like today).
Well, I wouldn't say I love moving out of my comfort zone.
You sound like a really nice and passionate teacher! :) I admire you! In spite of that, you're still pretty dynamic.

It wouldn't be fair for me to say since I haven't read the latter, but Jane Eyre is certainly a good book :)

Thanks Hallie! I try to remember that a lot of people are facing and fighting worse situations.
Fine! Just came back from work for lunch but have to go back. I've made my students write recipe poems (like Benjamin Zephaniah's The British), we will vote for the best one in a few weeks. They were really excited.
I wanna be a teacher! Everyone makes fun of me because they think being a teacher isn't a very big career to shoot for, but I don't care. I love teaching people things I know! I just don't know what sort of teacher to be....I'm extremely good at history but everyone wants to be a history teacher....so maybe language arts.
My students are between 15 and 22 years old (I teach in a high school from 9th to 12th grade, and I also have students in BA and MA).
Elizabeth, teaching is a really amazing job. I really love my job. I love teaching but what I really love is learning. I learn a lot with my students. Actually I would rather say that I'm sharing (I give them what I know, my experience ... But they also give me a lot: their point of view, their own life experience, their kindness or revolt or dreams...).
I am holding a give away on my blog click the link if you're interested ( http://eliza-daily.blogspot.nl/2017/0...)
Hallie wrote: "I'm not really built to be a teacher."Whaat would you like to be? Actually I wanted to be a journalist in the army... :-)))
I also want to be an author, being a teacher is sorta something I want to do to get some money in before my writing hits it big, although I do truly want to do both with my life. Most authors nowadays do some sort of job on the side anyway.

A lot of teachers are writers too. Some of my colleagues write novels and were already published.
I love writing stories but only for my daughters. And I love to write with them, children are really creative and imaginative.
Aaron(Everlast) wrote: "I had a great psychology teacher in university. I loved the class. However, I'll be returning to my regular job at the hospital this month. It's a good job and I enjoy it."I admire people working in hospitals! They are doing a tough job!
My favourite book so far this year would have to be Ten Tiny Breaths. It is about this 20 year old girl and her 15 year old sister. Their parents died in a car accident so they went to live with their aunt Darla but ended up leaving and going to Miami to starts their lives over.
I was thinking of being a psychologist for the reason Elizabeth stated, but I don't think I'll make a really good one. Or a doctor, but I'm a bit scared about that, too.
Brooke, that book sounds nice :) Who wrote it?
