message 964: by Rainshadow (new)

Rainshadow (Rainshadow390) I know right?!?!?!?! I'm going to ask my mom if I can make my old room into a library. a small one though. I just need to buy shelves and books off Amazon, then yeah. Also I need to get the tab sticker like things for the book spine....

(I'm thinking way too much about this...)

message 965: by [deleted user] (new)

message 966: by Rainshadow (new)

Rainshadow (Rainshadow390) Lol would you really go to Hawaii? That is where I live. But OMG I want to ask my mom right this second!!!!!! But probably a bad idea. She'll probably say this, "We don't have enough money. We can't do it." :( Not exactly what I want, but I believe she'll say exactly that.

*Grumbles* Now I have my hopes up for making a library, my mom is going to crush it. ):

message 985: by Anny (new)

Anny (annyreads) | 18 comments Here's a random question; Am I the ONLY one who tends to actually forget what a book is about, unless it made a huge impact on me?
I was going through a few lists here on goodreads to get recommendations for new books to buy, and I found myself having marked several of them as read, and I KNOW I have read them, but I can for the life of me not recall the storyline. When reading the synopsis I might recognise the names of the characters and recall the general story like "they were on a spaceship to another planet" or something like that. Everything else is blank.

I'm pretty sure that if I started reading, I'd recognise things. I don't think I'd be able to tell how it ended though.

And like we're not talking about books I read 15 years ago, it's like 3-4 years tops.

How do y'all remember? Are there tricks? Should I start taking notes? AM I GETTING OLD??

That happens to me sometimes. I generally forget about the plot if it was terribly boring. If I found a dozen of negative points to write a review about, then I'll remember, but if not, then I only vaguely remember some parts.

I have no idea how to solve it, though.

Happens to me too! I think it's just a matter of how much impact the book made, like you said. But it's not as much of a problem, in my eyes. If I don't remember the book, then perhaps it's not worth remembering. If anything, it's a good thing - that way you can enjoy a book again, if you remember it as a good one!
If you don't then oh well, it's not that good of a book anyways and remembering it is pointless.

This happens with me too. I think it's because if the story didn't interest you much, your mind wouldn't want to keep it for long, because, quite frankly, it's useless.

Rawan (thedarkwriter) I read everything mainly, but I dislike Romance (especially cliched stories -- if that's what's it's called XD) , and autobiographies, and anime
