Hi! So what were you discussing?"
I honestly don't know.

I think I'm the only one on right now ... did you get X message??

I was going through a few lists here on goodreads to get recommendations for new books to buy, and I found myself having marked several of them as read, and I KNOW I have read them, but I can for the life of me not recall the storyline. When reading the synopsis I might recognise the names of the characters and recall the general story like "they were on a spaceship to another planet" or something like that. Everything else is blank.
I'm pretty sure that if I started reading, I'd recognise things. I don't think I'd be able to tell how it ended though.
And like we're not talking about books I read 15 years ago, it's like 3-4 years tops.
How do y'all remember? Are there tricks? Should I start taking notes? AM I GETTING OLD??

That happens to me sometimes. I generally forget about the plot if it was terribly boring. If I found a dozen of negative points to write a review about, then I'll remember, but if not, then I only vaguely remember some parts.
I have no idea how to solve it, though.

Happens to me too! I think it's just a matter of how much impact the book made, like you said. But it's not as much of a problem, in my eyes. If I don't remember the book, then perhaps it's not worth remembering. If anything, it's a good thing - that way you can enjoy a book again, if you remember it as a good one!
If you don't then oh well, it's not that good of a book anyways and remembering it is pointless.

This happens with me too. I think it's because if the story didn't interest you much, your mind wouldn't want to keep it for long, because, quite frankly, it's useless.
FANTASY !!!! AND MYSTERY !!!! you ??

huh ..we need to find out what we got in common lol
