Alex wasn't a big fan of talking about the army, so be was relieved when she didn't ask another question. "I'm glad you got to come here, then," he said. "Maybe you'll end up liking it better than I have."

"you can't dislike it that much or you would have moved by now" she said looking at him. why would anyone stay in a place they didn't like. that was one of the reasons she had always wanted to move to the city where she could blend in and not everyone knew everything about her.
Alex laughed. "I don't know, I guess it doesn't make much sense, huh? Maybe I don't really hate it." He shrugged.
"maybe you just need to see the city threw new eyes. i know we just met but i bought tickets to a concert that is next weekend. i don't have anyone to go with and you can have one if you would like to come with me." she offered smiling. she knew it was the drinks giving her the courage to ask him to see the concert with her. she wanted to try to dispell his bad mood and was hoping that a concert will do the trick.
Alex eyed her. "That's pretty bold to ask somebody you just met," he said with a smirk. "But yeah sounds great! I haven't been to a concert since I was sixteen."
she smiled "great. we can meet up before the concert." she said glad to have a reason to see him again. she motioned for another drink. "they do call alcohol liquid courage" she said smiling.
Alex nodded. "Where's the place? Are any of your friends gonna be there?" The bartender gave him his third drink, but Alex was t noticing it affect him yet, so he didn't stop.
"It is at the delta plex. My roommate is coming and she is bringing someone." She told him. She knew very few people in the city and really hadn't made any grinds.
Alex nodded. "Great! I'll be there." He downed the last of his third bottle.
She was still siping her third not wanting to get too drunk around him. "That's great." She said happily.
"So," Alex hadn't asked for a girl's number in ages. "Do you want to, you know, swap numbers so I can let you know if I'm running late or something?" He took his fourth beer from the bartender.
She smiled and grabbed a pen that was laying on the bar and a napkin. She wrote down her phone number and gave it to him. "You don't have to text me just if you are running late." She said smiling.
Alex chuckled as he wrote down his own number and handed it to her. "Yeah, well maybe i've got other reasons for wanting it, too."
She smiled taking his number and putting it in her pocket. "Well don't be afraid of texting me for any reason." She said taking another sip
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Okay, well same here, then." He took another swig, but was finally starting to feel a buzz, so he slowed down.
She finished her drink and asked for a water instead of another drink. She smiled at him "I will" she told him smiling
"So, I didn't get your last name," Alex noted with a chuckle. "I want to be able to distinguish you from the rest if the Amy's in my contacts." He joked.
"it's smith...Jada smith" she told him smiling "would you like anything to eat?" she asked picking up a menu. she knew that if she didn't eat the hang over in the morning would only be worse. she didn't want anything to big and was hoping he would share an appetizer with her so she didn't have to order a full meal just to take most of it home with her.
"Smith, hmm. I'm Gamble." Alex replied. "Oh, no thanks, I'm of really hungry." His eating habits weren't generally the best.
she nodded looking at the menu. she decided to order just a chili cheese fries. she knew it would mean an extra hour at the gym tomorrow. she placed the order and took another drink of water.
Alex was trying to decide whether to order another beer as she was ordering her food. He didn't want to get drunk the first time hanging out with this new girl- that wouldn't end up being a good situation.
she looked over at alex when she had finished ordering. "so what do you do? i mean where do you work?" she asked
"I'm... Between jobs," Alex said, not wanting to admit completely that he was a deadbeat. "I'm getting pension from the army, so that's basically what I'm living off of. You?"
she nodded not sure how to respond to that. she decided to just change the subject. she took another drink of water. "so what hobbies do you have?" she asked
Alex shrugged, trying to change the subject away from him. "Stuff. What do you do for a living?"
"i am an assist editor at a local publishing company here in the city" she smiled happily she told him. "it has always been a dream to be an editor"
"Oh really?" Alex said, genuinely interested. "That so cool!"
she nodded smiling "yes." she said happily "i only have a few more classes before i can apply for the position." she told him as her fries came out. "you sure you don't want any?" she asked
Alex hesitated. "Oh what the hell, I might have one or two, if you don't mind." He chuckled.
she giggled "i don't mind" she said picking up a few fries. she moaned softly at how good they tasted "these are really good" she said.
Alex took one and ate it half heartedly. Seeing how she was acting, he chuckled. "Do they not have chili cheese fries in Montana?"
"My mom was a health nut. It it was fried it was a sin" she said taking a few more. "If we couldn't grow it or make it ourselves we couldn't eat it."
"Oh wow," Alex said. "I see more why you left, now."
She laughs softly. "It wasn't all bad." She told him smiling "I never had to worry about my weight until I left home."
Alex hoped she wasn't one of these people who would always be complaining about getting fat. "You don't look like you'd have that problem even now."
"I hit the gym three times a week " she told him.
"Oh wow," Alex said. "Do what other hobbies do you have?"
"I haven't really found any here yet"
Alex nodded. "I see. Well it's getting late, I should be heading back," he started to stand up.
She nodded and laid money down for the bill. "Yeah I should be going too." Thanks again for saving me "
"No problem, any time," Alex said with s smile as he payed for his beers. "I'll call you?"
She smiled "I'll be waiting." She told him as she headed for the door. She was glad that she had met him and really would be waiting to hear from him again.
Alex went to the door as well and held it open for her, not really wanting this night to end. He really liked this girl. "Well, I'll see you around."
She smiled "yeah I'll see you." She said slowly moving towards the direction of her apartment
Alex nodded and watched her as she went, before turning to head back to his place.
She went to her apartment and waiting to see if Kayla would come back.
Jaime had apparently taken the girl back to their apartment. Alex tried to come in quietly, and stepped around the various articles of clothes tossed in a trail to the door of Jaimie's bedroom.
She took a shower and pulled on her pjs
Alex stripped down to his boxers and climbed in bed, falling asleep soon after.
she fell asleep on the couch waiting for her
