Zarshal Saeed (zarshalsaeed) | 814 comments Great! I wonder how everyone’s doing now after all this time.
You used to be in school, right? What’re you up to now?

message 4555: by Uzair (new)

Uzair | 1172 comments Yes haha I couldn't shut up about my youthful age XD. I cringe everytime I read those old comments but in a good way.

I'm in A levels now. It's exam season actually.

What about yourself?

message 4556: by Zarshal (new) - rated it 3 stars

Zarshal Saeed (zarshalsaeed) | 814 comments Oh nice. Not 12 anymore xD Hahaha yeah I remember. But it definitely was a conversation starter.

I’m in college. Bachelors, civil engineering.
I left Pakistan back in February. Got married. It’s been an eventful year.

message 4557: by Uzair (new)

Uzair | 1172 comments Yes definitely not 12 anymore XD.

Eventful year indeed, how's college in the pandemic treating you?

message 4558: by Zarshal (new) - rated it 3 stars

Zarshal Saeed (zarshalsaeed) | 814 comments It’s not so bad here. It was pretty hectic in pakistan. With the courses being online and teachers not teaching so good. It’s quite organised here. A few of my classes are online, rest are physical. Education is easygoing so far. Almost all the stores and restaurants are open now. Most of them even have erased the mandatory mask policy after vaccination. So far so good Alhamdulillah.

How’s it going there? I bet the O levels haven’t been easy online.

My O levels finished up just before the pandemic Alhumdulilah but A levels started in it. Online classes were honestly a waste of time and so were most of the physical ones for that matter. Biology was the one exception , our teacher really gave 110% in that.

The course is hard but I can't really blame that on the pandemic. Matric got promoted twice without exams tho ;-;

I have about 14 days worth of exams left and if y'all would like we could restart the buddy reads then. Hopefully more people come back by then

Last I checked, goodreads API is proprietary and not extensive enough to allow something like that.

I don't think Goodreads uses APIs and you can always use python to do that no need to have bot functionality on the website.

keep in mind;
the book should be under 220-200 pages, fiction, suitable for a group read and English (for availability reasons)...

It has an API (a REST API) but as you can see, there's no option to make 'posts' in groups:
https://www.goodreads.com/api

You can comment on reviews though. Selenium might be a better option yes, if the site is as defenseless as it looks.

dude that is API of Goodreads that you can use other places, not vice versa.

exactly! you just need to grab the comments and process at your end in whatever you want and produce output and just paste here in gr using any scripting language that's all no need to go all in.

Yes you can use it on your site/app and leave 'comments' on goodreads. But you can't make posts because no function.

Anyways, I suggest the book "Skylark" by Dezső Kosztolányi. It's about an ugly girl whom her parents come to terms with loving and in the long run is the only thing that matters to them. Pretty comfy read. Very short too, about 200 pages.

Parker Queen (parkerqueen) | 7 comments Aakash wrote: "Something from YA would be more suitable."

I think you should just nominate two books and the let the rest of the group vote.

Amtal (taylor's version) Aakash wrote: "Something from YA would be more suitable."

i would've but most ya books are more than 200 pages
