lord of the flies, Buddy Read! :) [[Oct. 2022. ]]

Me and bilal still hang out I'll tell him the groups coming back to life too

You used to be in school, right? What’re you up to now?

I'm in A levels now. It's exam season actually.
What about yourself?

I’m in college. Bachelors, civil engineering.
I left Pakistan back in February. Got married. It’s been an eventful year.

How’s it going there? I bet the O levels haven’t been easy online.

My O levels finished up just before the pandemic Alhumdulilah but A levels started in it. Online classes were honestly a waste of time and so were most of the physical ones for that matter. Biology was the one exception , our teacher really gave 110% in that.
The course is hard but I can't really blame that on the pandemic. Matric got promoted twice without exams tho ;-;
I have about 14 days worth of exams left and if y'all would like we could restart the buddy reads then. Hopefully more people come back by then

Hopefully we can resume buddyread if there are enough members :D
omg!!!! People are still here :v I know its been months since I have not opened the group... how is everyone doing? even genio is here! DO REPLY IF SOMEONE IS STILL OUT THERE! :P

It is still a mystery, in my opinion, it's an AI chatbot with a very bad data set.... xD

Last I checked, goodreads API is proprietary and not extensive enough to allow something like that.

I don't think Goodreads uses APIs and you can always use python to do that no need to have bot functionality on the website.

cool! :) sath mein sab koi book bhi batatay jawo which we should read... there will be voting at a later stage.
keep in mind;
the book should be under 220-200 pages, fiction, suitable for a group read and English (for availability reasons)...

It has an API (a REST API) but as you can see, there's no option to make 'posts' in groups:
https://www.goodreads.com/api
You can comment on reviews though. Selenium might be a better option yes, if the site is as defenseless as it looks.

i'm the one who traumatized him 🙃
and yeah, count me in if you're going to be reading once again.

dude that is API of Goodreads that you can use other places, not vice versa.
exactly! you just need to grab the comments and process at your end in whatever you want and produce output and just paste here in gr using any scripting language that's all no need to go all in.

Yes you can use it on your site/app and leave 'comments' on goodreads. But you can't make posts because no function.
Anyways, I suggest the book "Skylark" by Dezső Kosztolányi. It's about an ugly girl whom her parents come to terms with loving and in the long run is the only thing that matters to them. Pretty comfy read. Very short too, about 200 pages.

Vo banda jis say aadha group khofzada tha, haha."
What a role model.

I think you should just nominate two books and the let the rest of the group vote.

i would've but most ya books are more than 200 pages

Layla wasn’t that good of a read.
Haven’t checked out Nigham’s suggestions. Will do that tonight.
