@Nigham I liked that quote too. And it reminded me of that Picasso quote, was it? “Every child is an artist, the problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”Close enough no?
@Nigham that’s true. Although I can’t read what Ahmed’s written but I have a feeling I’ll agree with it. But not sharing something due to fear of being judged or commented upon is one way of putting it. Sometimes people take the concept of being ‘true’ too brashly. And at other times people become so mean under the disguise of: “Hey you can’t handle the truth. I’m just being blunt.”
I think both these extremes are dangerous. The book discusses one of them, I just wanted to throw the second one out there too because so little people understand and take into account how what they say affects others nowadays.
Coming back to the book. It’s heavily symbolic. I’ve read 5 chapters and pretty sure I’m ahead of schedule so I’ll dedicate this day to reading a little bit about the author and when this book was written and why. I think it was some world war. I don’t remember which one. Will share after studying though.
Nigham wrote: "@Ahmad- 1st spoiler - That's so true, like author said in the very beginning that he'd talk about his paintings to other people, when they won't get it, he'd *bring* himself to their level and then..."Yup..agreed
Many of us just try to blend in rather than being ourselves with others and this judgmental problem should be eliminated. Like everyone thinks only Engineers and Doctors have respect in society. That's totally rubbish. I myself becoming an engineer but I don't see why engineers deserve more respect than others. It's just the matter of skills. Everyone should choose a profession which sparks interest. Otherwise, it always end up very bad.
@Nigham & ZarshalYou guys must be using the Goodreads app. It's the problem there. Spoilers aren't actually hidden there. I guess it's the bug in software..should tell them to fix this..
I'll message them..😅
Otherwise, on web, it's totally fine..

Agreed. Extremes are bad. If you know what you say will hurt the other, then you should be silent.
Is spoiler alert code is this? (view spoiler)? I'm using gr after a long time and yes using app and it sucks!
I guess that’s it. But I’ll have to open gr on laptop to confirm 😂Spoiler tags don’t work on the app I guess. 🤷♀️
I'm on chapter 10. And I've decided to share soemthing and I really hope it ain't spoiler haha... So don't you feel everything in this book represents something. For example little prince feels like childhood of the author... Idk if I should say more.
@NighamI can guarantee you can’t spoil anything for me. Can’t speak for others though xD
I think this book is a satire on the strict realism of adults. Children live in a world of their own. Its light, fun and allows creativity which you can’t say so much for the fast life nowadays that we live. And this world lacks that imagination, and it needs more of it.
And I was reading something the other day that I wanted to share. The flower the little prince talks about represents the author’s wife. He had some reservations about his relationship with her and he regretted later on that he didn’t understand her feelings and actions as much as he should have. And this isn’t a spoiler btw. Just some general knowledge that’ll help you understand the context, is you have or haven’t already read about the flower.
Now 10th chapter is about the king inhabiting a nearby asteroid yeah? So I feel like he represents adult of some type...
Yes that king. That king says something towards the end. I can quote that but that’ll spoil the fun for others xDRead that. That is important. Its a lesson.
Hawww, Zarshal I reloaded the tab and all this time u were commenting. :D and I just read them now haha
Wife? Well I didn't thought of that. I thought maybe it's hope. Idk why I thought so but you are right! It could be her.
Yaar, to be honest I feel like we na 90s waly bachy, are the last ones to know the colorful childhood... From pitai to ainak Wala Jin... Aaj kal k bachy? Tobah Tobah!
They always need to have things explained. When the mystery is too overpowering, one dare not to disobey.
They are like that. One must not hold it against them. Children should always show great forbearance toward grown-up people.
You know - one loves the sunset, when one is so sad...
It is such a secret place, the land of tears.
You know what I miss the most? Those cartoons. Kids next door. Courage the cowardly dog. Powerpuff girls.
All those had a story. They taught us things. Courage, kindness.
Aaj kal k cartoons dekhe hain? Koi moral koi story nahin.
Nigham wrote: "Is spoiler alert code is this? [spoilers removed]? I'm using gr after a long time and yes using app and it sucks!"yes it is

Haha, people here are done with the book and look at the ones who haven't started yet @Abdullah @Asad @thelarki _tehreem?
It was a good book, right? I really liked how it was narrated from perspective of a child. He said very mature things but in the wording of a child. That's good.
Nigham wrote: "Haha, people here are done with the book and look at the ones who haven't started yet @Abdullah @Asad @thelarki _tehreem?"@Nigham, I feel attacked
Abdullah wrote: "I've started with a few pages will be done soon...."Bari deer krdi meherbaa ate ate...😜😉
My old goodreads account seems to have gone out of order, lol. Good thing that I had an updated spreadsheet of the books i've listed here, so I can slowly rebuild my GR record of books. This new account that I set up isn't what I really wanted if I had to make a new account. The biggest wtf is it filled my friends list by itself, and I hate that! I want to change a lot of its settings and stuff, and if I can't figure them out, I might have to delete this account and come up with yet another account. Why is goodreads not as user-friendly as other popular social media platforms... ughh
I'm sorry guys, I haven't read The Little Prince yet. I just downloaded its ebook version and it looks like a short read.
I've always intended to read this book since forever, but I never got around to it. I guess this is as good a time as any.
Tehreem, did you read it? Am I the only one who hasn't read it yet?

yeah..GR is not so user-friendly...they really need to change a lot of things....
Can I add this acc of urs or r u planning to change it too?
let me know so I can add your active acc.
Wah yr...u maintain a spreadsheet for books! Great! I'm wondering if I lose my acc what'd happen to me who don't maintain any record😅
Yeah you can add this account but I think I will change this one too and make a fresh one, which you can add later then!
And I didn't maintain a spreadsheet, lol. Goodreads has a useful feature that lets you download a spreadsheet of all the books in your shelves.
https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/...
Use this feature to backup your record of books on GR.
Edited to add: I just tried the 'import' function with my last download which I got using the 'export' function on my old account. And it worked! It's adding all the books and shelves from my old account to this one! That's good to know and will help me when I set up my next, and proper account. I thought that I would have to add all those books manually. Maybe GR isn't so bad in its functionality after all :D
