If there's one thing that buddy read teaches us then it's 'patience'.

How was the book though, good or Normal?(avoid spoilers )

Ahmed Ejaz (ahmedejaz) | 1783 comments I'm on chapter 4 and it's way too slow for my taste.

Let's see. I think I will also finish it in these days as I got 4 holidays from university. 😊

Same pinch, too slow. First few chapters I enjoyed the slow pace then it kinda got irritating. Don't mind.

Elsa Qazi | 741 comments This book was not like mind-blowing. But it was the perfect thing to get me out of my slump. And I related to some of it so bad.

Also I need to properly learn how to do a buddy read :"D

Abdullah Khalid | 808 comments @Ahmed , yes I tried to speed up cause I was free today XD
I think I read a lil too much too ._. like I finished reading the book😅
It was kinda slow but it got better gradually and I liked the fact that it wasn't an average cliche.

@Elsa @Shabana
There are no strict rules and now I can't even say anything because I myself am guilty of it :")

Ahmed Ejaz (ahmedejaz) | 1783 comments Hey, I have a question!
Why her grandfather was the way he was? Why he didn't show her mother's pictures to her?
Was he mentally ill? I feel that's the reason.

message 3823: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Qazi | 741 comments When Marin called jones after Mabel left this is their conversation:

Mabel: “I thought he was sick.”
Jones: “Well, he was. Just in more ways than you thought.”

He wanted to imply that gramps was mentally ill

Yup. That's where I got that feeling. I thought it had to be more than that. So got confused
Thanks for confirming.

Shabana Mukhtar (shabanamukhtarofficial) | 184 comments I guess all four of us have finished the book?

message 3826: by Ahmed (new)

Ahmed Ejaz (ahmedejaz) | 1783 comments Anyone up for another very short read? The magical one this time?

message 3827: by Elsa (new)

Elsa Qazi | 741 comments Yeah oki. I am so up for a short read!

message 3828: by Ahmed (new)

Ahmed Ejaz (ahmedejaz) | 1783 comments How about: Gilded Ashes?

Don't worry, it can be read as a standalone. It's the novella of Cinderella's retelling.

message 3829: by Shabana (new)

Shabana Mukhtar (shabanamukhtarofficial) | 184 comments Blurb is interesting. Lengthwise very promising ;)
How many Cindrella's retelling are there? Sara recommended me Cinder, which also has the same premise in a futuristic setting. Which reminds me, if you have a soft copy of that, please share with me :-)

There many of its retelling. I have 2-3 of them.
Most common retellings are that of the Beauty & the Brast. :)

Ahmed Ejaz (ahmedejaz) | 1783 comments Here's the schedule. I hope this time we will take part in discussion too. Like read the assigned task first then post your thoughts on the task in spoiler tag. This way would be more enjoyable in my opinion. Otherwise it's no different than reading a book alone.

22 Sept: Chapter 1 to 5
23 Sept: The End

It's very short. And could be read in jus one sitting. I know. I'm just doing this to test ourselves this time. ;) ;D
Let's begin tomorrow with discussion. ^_^
Agreed?

message 3833: by Abdullah (new)

Wow! Today's task was amazing! I didn't expect this side of the retelling. But I'm quite enjoying it.
(view spoiler)
So far, I enjoyed reading it. Let's see how it ends tomorrow. ^_^

message 3839: by Ahmed (last edited Sep 23, 2018 12:40AM) (new)

Ahmed Ejaz (ahmedejaz) | 1783 comments Take it easy. But do discuss how much you guys read in a day. The schedule is just there as a rough plan. If someone couldn't make it, then it's completely okay. My main emphasis is just that we should discuss what we read in a day. ^_^
Hope my schedule post didn't sound strict. If it did, it was not my intention.

message 3840: by Shabana (new)

Shabana Mukhtar (shabanamukhtarofficial) | 184 comments Tell me about it. I'm on chapter 3. It is hard to resist the temptation of expanding the spoiler that Ahmed wrote. Hopefully I will be able to make it on time.

Oh, then don't open the spoiler. It contains spoilers of chapter 4 and 5. XD

message 3842: by Shabana (new)

Shabana Mukhtar (shabanamukhtarofficial) | 184 comments The first five chapters explain Miai and her background. She takes the letters her stepsister Koré sends to Lord Anax. Anax and Maia talk about their respective lives without fearing that the other would judge. I like their conversation. Although hints are dropped from the beginning, chapter five explains in detail we know why Maia is always pretending to be happy.
